He is popular having played for clubs such as Manchester United and West Ham United where he currently plays as a striker. Having risen to play a very important role with the Mexican team, he was invited to the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Here are things to know about him.
Javier Chicharito Hernandez Bio and Age
The footballer was born Javier Hernández Balcázar on 1 June 1988 in the town of Guadalajara in Mexico. It was, however, in Morelia that he was brought up alongside his sister, Ana Hernández Balcázar by their parents, Silvia Balcázar and Javier Gutiérrez.
It was apparent since he was a child that he was cut out for football as a result of his love for sports. This was not entirely surprising because it was in a footballing family that he was born with a father who played professional football and a grandfather who also did the same with both playing for Mexico’s national team.
Even as it was already obvious that the young Hernandez was going to become a footballer, his parents still sent him to the Instituto Piaget for his elementary education and it was from here that he decided to begin a youth career in the sports that could be said to run in the family’s blood.
As indicated, the name Chicharito was not given to him at birth. He inherited it just as he inherited football from his father. In his playing days, the elder Hernandez was referred to as Chícharo which means pea as a result of his green eyes. The name Chicharito which means little pea was then coined for the younger Hernandez.
Chicharito began his club football career with Guadalajara in 1997 and by 2006, his skills had earned him a place with the senior team of the club which marked the beginning of his senior club career. He remained with the club until 2010 when Manchester United signed the player from the Mexican professional football club with which he won the Mexican Primera División: Apertura in 2006.
After joining the Red Devils and playing 103 games with 37 goals, 2 English Premier League titles, and an FA Community Shield to his name, Javier Chicharito Hernandez was sent on loan to the Spanish giant, Real Madrid. Between 2014 and 2015 that he remained with the club, he had recorded a FIFA World Cup club title and had contributed 7 goals in 23 games.
Bayer Leverkusen became his next club after he made the move in 2015 and from here, he was back to England to play for West Ham United in 2017. By the end of the 2017/2018 season, he had already recorded 28 games for the club, scoring 8 goals.
Javier Chicharito Hernandez began playing in the national colors of Mexico in 2007 when he played for the under-20 team. After playing just two games for the team and netting in a goal, he would wait until 2009 when he was called up for national duties with the main team.
By the time he was invited for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Hernandez had already played 101 games for the country and in the process, he saw the back of the net 49 times.
Javier Chicharito Hernandez’ Net Worth
Having played for some of the most important clubs in the world such as Real Madrid and Manchester United, Hernandez has reached a great point in his football career. Hence it is not surprising that he has a net worth that is estimated at $17 million. His weekly salary with West Ham United is over $185,000 (£140,000).
The Mexican striker has been in a number of relationships in the past. The first woman who was known as the footballer’s girlfriend is Leticia Sahagún. The relationship between the two blossomed in 2009 but didn’t get to see the light of a marriage as it ended in 2015.
It was then rumored that he was going out with a Hawaiian actress, Chaska Borek. Nonetheless, the next woman to openly become his girlfriend was Lucia Villalon but the relationship would end in the same year.
