Controversies

As a politician, Jeff Sessions has always been a Trump supporter which was evident in his speeches during President Trump’s presidential campaign. His nomination to serve as U.S. attorney general was proposed by President Trump in 2016.

Sometime in 2017, he came under FBI investigation for his alleged involvement with Russian officials on behalf of President Trump during the time of the presidential election campaign. Politics, as they say, is a power game, hence the Lawyer and Politician were said to have compelled President Trump to dismiss FBI Director James Comey who was in charge of the case in a letter to the President seeking the reconstruction of the FBI leadership. He later gave his statements denying any collision with Russia and called it inappropriate to drag the President into such allegations.

The Attorney General has also been linked to racially insensitive statements and was lambasted on social media for pretending to be anti-racist when he made an appearance with one of his grandchildren who is half Asian.
