Jesy Nelson is known for being a member of the British girl group Little Mix. She was born to Janice White and John Nelson Romford in East London. Her mother is a Police Community Service Officer and her father is a businessman. She has raised alongside her three siblings; a sister – Jade and two brothers – Jonathan and Joseph.
Before Jesy became popular for being a member of Little Mix, she had worked at a local bar in Essex as a bartender. She had auditioned for the eighth seasons of the UK version of The X Factor in 2011 and could not go beyond the boot camp round. Luckily, a second chance with the group Faux pas kickstarted her career with Little Mix.

When Jesy Nelson was five, her parents had a breakup and she had to live with her mother growing up. It was difficult for her mother to raise her and her siblings that they had to move twelve times in search of a home. She went to Jo Richardson Community School in Dagenham and then eventually went to Cross Academy and Arts College in Horn Church, Essex. Jesy Nelson was a dedicated drama and music student. She also went to Young and Yvonne Rhodes Theatre Schools, a famous Performing Arts Institute.
Jesy Nelson sealed her spot in a new group by the name Rhythmix; which was made up of two members from faux pas and two members from Orion pas Jesy, Jade, Perrie, and Leigh-Anne. Rhythmix then went on to the live shows of The X Factor under the guidance of coach Tulisa Contostavlos. The judges pointed out their potentials and called them a future band.
The band changed their name during the show as their name was clashing with a children’s music charity group. This is how Little Mix came about. They gave beautiful renditions which showcased their spectacular skill in the vocal range. Jesy always often sets the stage by beginning the performances. Their hard work paid off as they eventually became the first-ever group to win the X-Factor. She signed with the Simon Cowell-owned Syco Music and Columbia Records as a member of Little Mix.
Little Mix
As of October 2016, Little Mix had achieved four platinum-certified albums and eleven certified singles in the UK. Little Mix can be regarded as one of the most successful female acts in contemporary British popular culture; having four UK number one singles and the highest first-week UK album sales for a girl band since the Spice Girls. They also made Debrett’s 2017 list of the most influential people in the UK.
Jesy Nelson wrote – Change Your Life, Move, Shout Out to My Ex, and Wings alongside her band members. She also co-wrote Britney Spears’s single Pretty Girls. She is inspired by Spice Girls, Missy Elliot, and TLC. Jesy gets her style inspiration however from Gwen Stefani. J Nelson also shares the middle name “Louise” with her fellow band member, Perrie. Perrie nicknamed her Swagger Mix. She is the oldest member of the group and has been described by the other band members to be lovely and caring.
Nelson is also good at beatboxing; she used it in her audition as a solo act on the X-Factor show. She has an addiction of clicking her knuckles. In recent times, she was criticized for her Instagram post where she was seen wearing dreads. Jesy Nelson was accused of cultural appropriation and there were calls for her to apologize.
Jesy Nelson Fiancé
In September 2014, Jesy started dating Jake Roche, the Rixton lead singer. He is about two years younger than Jesy junior. They were so in love that they got engaged on July 19, 2015. However, in November 2016, the engaged lovebirds called it quits. Rumour had it that Jesy wanted to be a mum as soon as they got married and Jake felt he was not ready for it as he thought he was too young to be a father. Shout out to my Ex was written to cope with the split she had described as horrendous.

During her school days, Jesy was overweight that it got her bullied and she had to change schools a few times. As she went on to the X Factor show, she was also faced with criticism for her weight. Nonetheless, with support from her family and teammates, she was able to cope with such criticism.
Lately, she looks like she has dropped some weight as she is seen with a slimmer figure. This was after the split from fiancé Jake Roche. She seems to have had the heartbreak diet.
