Joe Tippett was born on September 2, 1980, in New York City, New York. Although it is known that his parents are John Tippett and Amy Tippett, there is no information in the public domain regarding how he was brought up as well as his educational qualification.

Joe Tippett and Sara’s relationship is mostly referenced to their work together in 2016 on Waitress, a Broadway show that the singer wrote and also played the role of Jenna, while Joe took the role of Earl Hunterson. However, that was not their first meeting. The first time they met was in 2015 when they had the Out-of-town tryout of the same show in Cambridge, Massachusetts at the American Repertory Theater. That marked the beginning of their love story.
