Jon Stewart Bio/Wiki
American stand-up comedian Stewart was born in New York, on November 28, 1962, to parents – Marian Leibowitz and Donald Leibowitz. His mother initially worked as a teacher and subsequently as an educational consultant while his father (a professor) worked at the Thomas Edison State College and The College of New Jersey as a physics lecturer.
Stewart was raised in Lawrenceville, in New Jersey, where he and his elder brother Lawrence Stuart attended the prestigious Lawrence High School. The names of his two younger brothers are Matthew and Dan. Eleven years after his arrival, his parents couldn’t keep up with each other; this led to some cracks in their marriage. The couple subsequently called it quits and separated from each other. Stewart’s father became absent in his life after the divorce and this affected him greatly during his younger days.
Devastated by his father’s absence and the challenges that almost brought him to his knees, Jon shoved aside his surname and took up his middle name Stuart – in a bid to disassociate himself from his estranged father.
He made his stand-up debut in 1987 at New York-based nightclub and coffeehouse The Bitter End, the club where Woody Allen (his major stand-up influence) also started. Stewart had earlier made a mess of himself and his ambition at the Comedy Club Circuit in 1986 after he declined to take the stage because of the number of people at the club.
Family – Wife, and Children,
Despite her husband’s popularity and prominence in the entertainment industry, Philadelphia-born Tracey McShane has managed to stay out of the spotlight.
Though she’s best known as Stewart’s wife, McShane is, by profession, an animal advocate and an author. Her love for animals began after she came in contact with Farm Sanctuary. She went on to author a book entitled Do Unto Animals: A Friendly Guide to How Animals Live and How We Can Make Their Lives Better.
Jon Stewart and then graphic designer Tracey first met on a blind date arranged by a mutual friend. The perfect lovebirds started dating after the blind date. Four years after in 1999, the comedian proposed to Tracey using a crossword puzzle. Their wedding took place a year after.
Stewart’s wife (born on August 6, 1967) has given birth to two lovely children. Her first child is Nathan Thomas Stewart born July 3, 2004, and her daughter Maggie born February 4, 2006.
It’s no news that celebrity marriages don’t last, but Stewart and Tracey’s marriage has apparently been outstanding, having lasted over a decade. Interestingly, the lovebirds are vegans. Sometime in 2016, it was reported that the couple bought a farm at Hockhockson for a whopping $4 million. Stewart and his wife would convert the space into a farm sanctuary where rescued animals and other animal-related stuff would be taken care of. They also plan to use a portion of the farm as an education center where students would be taught about animals and how to cater to them.
Net Worth and Height
As a comedy lord, Stewart has made some neat earnings from his career and other endeavors, which include acting, media shows, writing, and his personal show The Jon Stewart Show, which was launched in 1993 and airs on MTV. His first book Naked Pictures of Famous People, which is a collection of humorous short stories and essays, did not only earn him a handsome reward in cash, it also made its way to The New York Times Best Seller List.
Stewart, who’s Jewish by ethnicity, has also played host to the 78th Academy Awards and the 2001 and 2002 Grammy Awards respectively. His net worth currently stands at $80 million.
Like most Hollywood celebrities, Stewart has an amazing height, which stands at 168 centimeters in metric units – which is 5 feet and 6.5 inches.
