It will not be an exaggeration if one were to say that it will require a miracle for Josh’s father Jerry Tomlin to recover the use of his legs. Jerry eventually went into paralysis from his chest down to his legs which led to a difficult surgery and Josh’s mother, Elana took care of him the whole time. His dad eventually survived the surgery but coming out of paralysis is a long process which he is still undergoing till date.

Even though it has been a while, Jerry has not given up and it is this attitude that he has inculcated in his son from a tender age when he would make the young Josh Tomlin throw balls into a bucket to perfect his strike-throwing and send him after the ones that missed the mark. Josh’s dad always held down two jobs; one at the PowerPoint and another as a plumber so that his son would not be obligated to work, He did everything in his power to assist his son to achieve his dream as a professional baseball player.
