On the 31st of October, 1982, in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada, Justin Chatwin was born to Suzanne and Brian Chatwin. His father Brian worked as an engineer while his mother Suzanne was an artist and they had two other children, daughters; Brianna and Claire.

Chatwin, alongside his sisters, had a normal upbringing. He was studying commerce at the University of British Columbia when his life took a turn for the better following a dare by a friend to attend an audition for a Canadian TV Show. The brave 19-year-old went for the audition and to his surprise, landed the role. That year, he made his acting debut in the musical comedy Josie and the Pussycats (2001) and appeared in episodes of series like Christy, Choices of the Heart (2001) and Smallville (2001). While still working to complete his degree, Chatwin took acting classes to brush up on his acting skills as he hoped to move to Los Angeles, California after graduating.

Upon graduating, Justin Chatwin took his talents to the entertainment capital of the world where he lived with fellow Canadian, Noel Fisher. Having moved to Hollywood, he was able to land supporting roles in the films Taking Lives (2004) and Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2 (2004). He gained recognition for his role as Tyler McKay in the miniseries Traffic, however, what propelled him to the big stage was his role as ‘s son in the blockbuster film, War of the Worlds (2005).

In recent times, after having explored theatre acting, Justin Chatwin has made notable appearances in Shameless (2011–2015), No Stranger Than Love (2015), Urge (2016), and The Assassin’s Code (2018).
