Gharaibeh was born October 10, 1983, in Amman to Jordanian parents. He lived in Saudi Arabia with his family until the age of four when they all relocated to Florida. He eventually grew up in Ventura County, California.
Career
It is true that Kassem G is popular as a YouTube star but he didn’t actually start off as a Youtuber. Before gaining popularity through his YouTuber videos, he worked with Best Buy as a sales rep and did stand-up comedy on a part-time basis during the weekends, performing in small gatherings and restaurants.
His YouTube career began after his friend Cory William made a video that went viral. Gharaibeh first began by making his stand-up comedy sessions into videos and other comedy skits and uploading them on Youtube.
According to him, he initially uploaded the videos for fun but began to take them seriously after they began gaining popularity. When most of his videos started going viral and generating income, Gharaibeh finally quit his job and went full-time into video making.
In 2009, he launched his second YouTube channel KassemGtwo, where he uploads his AsKassem web-series videos.
By 2010, his YouTube channel, KassemG has garnered over 1 million subscribers. The Channel which was first created in 2006, now has over 2.5 million subscribers with a whopping count of over 441 million views.
As of 2017, KassemGtwo has also garnered over 35 million views and almost half a million subscribers.
One of his popular videos is the web series California On – where he interviews people on the street on specific subjects in such a humorous manner. The viewership on Califonia On alone is a little over a million per episode – making it one of the favorites among his viewers.
Apart from Califonia On, his other popular videos include Going Deep and Street Music. In Going Deep, he interviews porn stars, while he and a fellow YouTube star, NicePeter, hit the streets to sing street ballads to the people near them, commenting on what they see and capturing the reactions and expressions of the people.
In 2009, Kassem Gharaibeh founded Maker Studios alongside Shay Butler and Lisa Donovan. The company became a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company in December 2015 after accepting a buyout offer from the production company for $500 million.
Kassem G guest hosted the popular web series Equals Three and also starred in the YouTube film, Agents of Secret Stuff. He has also appeared on the cannabis culture-oriented podcast Getting Doug with High six times. The YouTuber beat out nominees including Larry King to scoop the 2013 Streamy Award for Best Host.
After Makers Studios got sold, Kassem uploaded only 10 new videos in three whole years, thus, losing some of his subscribers. But, he made a big come back in March 2017; he posted his first new video after several months offline.
The video was an almost one-hour-long improvised talk show called Kassem LiveShow, since then, his channel has a new video uploaded once a week.
The story that went around during his offline period was that he went offline to spend the money he made from the sale of Maker Studios and that he returned to video making because he’d spent all the money. In response, Gharaibeh said he was still very, very rich and that he thought now is the best time to go back to video making.
