Kelly Overton belongs to the long line of actresses who have gone behind the camera to carry out some directorial roles in the movie industry. Like many stars before her, she received positive feedback and review from critics and her colleagues for her hard work. Although she has had some stints behind the camera, she still invests much of her time and acting skills on the stage, in films and television series as well.

As a talented actress, Overton has secured and executed several roles in different genres in Hollywood, including the 2016 American-Canadian dark fantasy horror drama TV series Van Helsing wherein she portrayed the fictional character, Vanessa Van Helsing.

Kelly Overton – Biography

Kelly Overton is a native of Wilbraham, Massachusetts. She was born on the 28th day of August 1978 to her parents. The actress holds an American nationality and belongs to white ethnicity. For some reason, Overton is yet to introduce her family members and also share information about her background with the media and her fans. That notwithstanding, the Massachusetts native has a supportive family who has been a major inspiration to her right from the beginning of her career.

Did we mention that the actress is exceptionally clever as well? Yes, Overton was one of the best graduating students in her school. She attended the New York City-based arts school American Academy of Dramatic Arts, where she took up lessons in dramatic arts and subsequently graduated with The Charles Jehlinger Award, which is the institution’s highest honor.

Kelly has been a married woman since 2004 when she exchanged her marital vow with her heartthrob – Judson Pearce Morgan, an American producer, director, and actor.

Pearce hails from Santa Barbara, a town in the city of California. His production credits include Imaginary Bitches (2008) and The Collective while his directorial timeline has the following works to his name – The Wager (2007) and The Collective (2008). As a screen actor, he has participated in the production of Hollywood projects such as Unhasped (2003), The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (2005), Under New Management (2009), Outsource (2008), Strangers with Candy (2000), and many others.

Kelly Overton and her multi-hyphenate husband share two lovely daughters together. The name of their first child is Ever Evangeline Morgan but the name of their youngest child is yet to be publicized. However, we were reliably informed that she was born in the month of July 2017.

Movies and TV Shows

Unlike her husband, the actress has had more roles in the industry. Her acting resume clearly shows she has starred more in television series than in films. For the records, Kelly’s first credited role on the screen was as Rain Wilkins in the TV series, All My Children which aired from 2000–2001. She was later assigned the character, Audrey Rose, in an episode of the 2003 series, Without a Trace. 

Between that year to 2009, Overton portrayed several characters in projects such as Wedding Daze (2004), The Division (2004) Cold Case (2007), Numbers (2007), Psych (2008), CSI: Miami (2009). She bagged her first recurring role in Three Rivers as Det. Rena Yablonski in the episodes: “Every Breath You Take” and “Alone Together” and later as Claire Sinclair in Beauty and the Beast (2012–2013).

The actress’s career got a boost in the year 2015 when she was awarded the main role in season 2 of the crime drama television series, Legends. She was cast as Nina Brenner and starred alongside stars such as Morris Chestnut, Sean Bean, and Amber Valletta.

Since 2016, the actress has been playing the lead role in the Helsing. She is equally the series’ titular protagonist. Kelly made her on-screen appearance in the movie industry in the year 2003. She portrayed the fictional character Erica in the comedy-drama film, It Runs in the Family, which also featured Kirk Douglas, Michael Douglas, Audra McDonald, Cameron Douglas among other stars.

Career Achievements

In all fairness, Kelly Overton has been at her best ever since she started benefitting from the industry. This, no doubt, has helped her to make laudable achievements as an actress, director, and producer. To date, her biggest project is the film The Collective, which she brilliantly directed and wrote along with her husband.

The Collective, on its own part, has been making waves across the country. Between 2008 and 2009, the project received awards and recognition at several film festivals, including the Audience Award for Best Feature Film at the Trimedia Film festival (2008).
