Kim Woo Bin went through high school, combining his education with working on his body in preparation for his modeling career. It all began to pay off at the age of 20 in 2009, when he started appearing on runways and modeling for some of the famous designers on offer at Seoul Fashion Week and for ready-to-wear retailers.
Despite the progress of his modeling career, Kim Woo Bin sought to complete his formal education and he did at Jeonju University. His exposure as a model made him the interest of TV commercial producers. As the commercial offers kept coming, Kim Woo Bin realized he needed acting lessons as the commercials required a bit of acting.
Ultimately, one could say his determination to be a successful model made him become an actor. To be better at commercials, Kim Woo Bin contacted South Korean acting icon, Moon Won-Joo and began taking acting lessons from him. While learning, he fell in love with acting and decided to add professional acting to his career path.
He debuted onscreen in an acting role for the first time in 2011 when he starred in the mystery drama, White Christmas. In the same year, he starred in two other shows – Cupid Factory and Vampire Idol.
His first film, Runaway Cop was a cameo appearance. He had his first starring role in a film in 2013 in Friend: The Great Legacy. 2013 came to be a breakout year for Kim in acting as he starred in two hit dramas, School 2013 and The Heirs. His performance in School 2013 earned him his first acting award as Best New Actor by the APAN Star Awards.
His increased popularity due to his television appearances resulted in further success for him in his modeling career as he became a sought-after model by advertisers because of his fame. Having established himself as a name to be reckoned with on television, Kim Woo Bin’s success was extended to film. He starred in The Con Artists in 2014 and Twenty in 2015, exhibiting his range as an actor playing a dramatic role in The Con Artists and a comedic one in Twenty.
So far, Kim Woo Bin has starred in a total of five films and eight television shows including a web series in 2014 called Love Cells. He has also appeared in two music videos and has hosted an MNet show.
Over the course of his short career, Kim has been nominated for a total of 30 awards and has won eleven of them.

Kim Woo Bin is in a relationship with fellow model and actor, Shin Min-a. Their relationship was made public in July 2015. The couple reportedly met on the set of a shoot for the Giordano brand. Their relationship was put to the test when Kim Woo Bin was diagnosed with cancer but the couple has stayed together through it all.
