Landon Collins is a popular name in American football. He is best known as a safety in the National Football League (NFL) and he plays for the New York Giants. He was born Landon Alexandar Collins on January 10, 1994, to parents Thomas Collins and April Justin in New Orleans, Louisiana. Collins is the first child of his parents and has two siblings; a younger brother named Gerald Willis and a sister Gerrah Willis. His father is a station director at the Coastal Bridge construction company in Baton Rouge, Louisiana while his mother lives in Florida.

Collins grew up in the Algiers neighborhood but had to move with his family to Geismar, Louisiana where they settled after Hurricane Katrina hit their city in 2005. As a child, he showed interest in the game of football and so between the ages of four and twelve, he had his father as his coach and he has always referred to those years as the best and most influential years in his career adding that he has his father to thank for making it so.

He attended Dutchtown High School in Geismar. Being a three-sport star in high school, Collins was also good in baseball which he started playing when he was seven years old. As a track and field athlete, he was recognized as one of the top sprinters of the state. He won the 100-meter dash at the 2012 Episcopal 4-way championships recording a personal best time of 16.28 seconds and also a career-best time of 21.60 seconds in the 200-meter dash at the 2012 Jostens Invitational. He also ran a 4.48 seconds 40-yard dash and had a 36-inch vertical jump.

As a football player, he played the role of a defensive back and was also said to be the first player in LSWA history to receive 5A All-State honors. In 2012, he was featured in the Under Armour All-America Game. After high school, Landon Collins enrolled for college at Alabama University and there he participated in college football for three seasons and was able to also win a championship in his freshman season.

Before he chose Alabama, he had many other offers from many major schools but narrowed his choice down to Alabama. Collins forwent his senior year in college to declare for the 2015 NFL Draft. He was selected by the New York Giants in the second round, 33rd overall, and this happened after the team had sold out seven spots with the Tennessee Titans just to take him. He was signed on a four-year contract worth $6.12 million.

Collins started playing football at a professional level in 2015 and since then has been improving and becoming better in the game. He was named to the 2016 Pro Bowl in his second season with the New York Giants and was also named Pro Bowl for the second year in a row in 2017. On January 14, 2017, Collins was the winner of the named NFC Defensive Player of the Year.

Landon Collins’ father is Thomas “Tom” Collins who died shortly after the family relocated after being hit by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. His mother, April Justin, remarried but has been a loving and supportive mother to her children. However, her relationship with Landon was strained after he chose Alabama University over Louisiana State University for college football.

Collins made his choice live on television at the Under Armour All-American game. His mother was very displeased with his decision and would not have attended his drafting if his younger brother, Gerald had not lured her with promises of a draft week spa event.

It’s been years since Landon Collins made his decision and he has gone on to play pro football with the New York Giants but despite his football success in Tuscaloosa, his mother April Justin still stands by her opinion of Louisiana being a better choice for her son than Alabama.

Landon’s younger brother, Gerald Willis is also a football athlete and played football for the University of Florida before transferring to the University of Miami. However, he got into a lot of trouble while playing for the Florida Gators and got dismissed for anti-team activities which included fighting with teammates. But Gerald says he is a changed man now and is working towards becoming a better football player.

Who is Landon Collins’ Girlfriend?

Landon Collins is not married yet but he is engaged to be married to Victoria Lowrey, his college girlfriend. Lowrey is a graduate of Alabama University and is engaged to Landon even though he has children from three different women.

When the post of their engagement went viral, one of the mothers of his children, Rocsi, accused Landon of abandoning his responsibility as a father. Landon and Victoria have since tried to stay away from the media since the incident with his baby mama.
