Laura San Giacomo was born on the 14th of November, 1962 in West Orange, New Jersey to John and MaryJo San Giacomo. Her father owns a paper mill and she is of Italian descent. Laura was raised in Denville, New Jersey and attended Morris Knolls High School where she fell in love with acting.
After high school, she proceeded to Carnegie Mellon School of Drama in Pittsburgh from where she graduated in 1984 with a degree in Fine Arts. To start her career, Giacomo relocated to New York where she began acting in theater productions receiving rave reviews for most of her roles. She made her screen debut in 1987, playing small parts in TV shows. Those TV shows included; Spenser: For Hire, Crime Story, The Equalizer, and Miami Vice.
Her experiences on the small screen prepared her for her major role in Sex, Lies, and Videotape which was her debut film role as a credited actress. Laura San Giacomo married her current husband, Matt Adler in 2000, two years after finalizing her divorce from ex-husband, Cameron Dye. Like Laura, it was Matt’s second marriage. He was previously married to actress Ria Pavia from 1993 to 1995. Giacomo’s husband is best recognized for his films in the 1980s, including; Teen Wolf, White Water Summer, and North Shore.
