Laura Vandervoort is so many things it will make your head spin, however, one thing that stands out is talented. She is also a black belt trained martial artist. This enables her to perform a good number of her stunts whenever she’s on set.

An animal lover, Vandervoort is also easy on the eyes. For two years – in 2010 and 2011, she was on the pages of Maxim Magazine for their publication of 100 Hottest Women. Her increasing appeal earned her a place on the cover of the magazine for their April edition.

Laura’s popular movies and TV shows have seen her play Kara Zor-El in The CW’s Smallville; Elena Michaels in Bitten; Arla Cogan in Syfy’s Haven; and Lisa in V. She has managed to work her way from a Canadian child star to Hollywood celebrity status.

Age, Early Life, and Rise to Fame

Laura was born on September 22, 1984, in Ontario, Canada, as Laura Dianne Vandervoort. The actress had a memorable childhood as she was raised well by her parents, along with her sister Sarah. However, her life wasn’t without complications, in the first few weeks after her birth, she fell ill with meningitis and was terribly sick for a few months.

As a kid, she got into a lot of extracurriculars and was a tomboy. She was involved in all sorts of sports: tennis, football, baseball, basketball, gymnastics, and even karate. She was also an outgoing and fun person to be around.

Laura’s career started in earnest while she still lived in Canada. Starting at thirteen, she made guest appearances and did background work on Canadian shows like Harriet the Spy, Are You Afraid of the Dark, Goosebumps, Mutant X, and Mom’s Got A Date With A Vampire all before the end of 2001.

In the 2000s she made more appearances in Prom Queen: The Marc Hall Story (2002); Falcon Beach (2005); and Troubled Waters (2006). A lot of the movies she did at that time happened while she was also pursuing a degree in Psychology and English at York University.

Her biggest role yet on a television project came with Instant Star in 2004. On the show, she played Sadie Harrison in 52 episodes, culminating in her being a household name by the time it ended in 2008. Two years after starting on the series, she landed her first feature film gig in The Lookout. She played the character Kelly in the movie and it was released in 2007. In 2009, she started work on the TV series V as Lisa. The role ended in 2011 after 22 episodes.

In 2007, she made a guest appearance in an episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Her performance led to her starring as Kara Kent/Supergirl, the equally super-powered cousin to lead character Clark Kent. Starting in the seventh season, she played the role of a regular, and then as a guest in subsequent seasons.

In the time after Smallville, Laura Vandervoort was on The Entitled (2011); Ted (2012); Haven (2012); and Ballers (2015). After her run with Space’s Bitten which ended in 2016, she appeared in a few more projects. These included Supergirl (2015); Con Man (2017); Ice (2018); Rabid (2019); and V-Wars (2019).

Husband/Boyfriend – Is She Dating or Married?

Some would argue that the actress, despite an extremely successful career, isn’t doing so well in the love department. Since 2004, Laura Vandervoort has been in a slew of relationships with various actors and men in entertainment.

Her first was with Corey Sevier; Laura met Corey when they were both working on set for the series Instant Star in 2004. They soon started dating and took it a step further with an engagement. They never got to the marriage phase and split a few years later.

She moved on in 2011 with fellow This Means War star, Chris Pines. This too didn’t last and she moved on with fellow Smallville actor Michael Rosenbaum in late 2012. Their romance only lasted as far as February 2013.

Her next “lovescapade” happened with TV personality and host Oliver Trevena whom she started dating in mid-2013. Oliver popped the question to Laura on New Year’s Eve of the same year while they were in England. The actress’s engagement ring was captured by the media for the first time in February 2014, and an engagement party was held the following month to celebrate their union. However, the wedding bell stopped chiming sometime at the tail end of 2014 as evidenced by Laura’s emotional Instagram post, announcing their split on December 31, 2014.

The actress hasn’t been known to be dating anyone since Trevena.
