Suarez was born Luis Alberto Suárez Díaz on January 24, 1987, in Salto, Uruguay. When he turned 7, his parents relocated to Montevideo where Suarez would be raised for the rest of his childhood.

They met in the year 2001 when Suarez, 15 years at the time, was a mere street sweeper. As the story goes, Suarez had to save up all of his money from his meager-paying job to take her out on a date. She has been his ride or dies ever since then.

When Sofia’s parents moved from Uruguay to Barcelona in 2003, it broke Suarez’s heart but on the brighter side, it motivated him to improve on his game so he could move up to Europe and be with her again. And he did just that.
