Biography
Malin is the daughter of an Aerobic teacher and a part-time model – Pie Akerman and Magnus Akerman – an insurance broker. She was born in Stockholm, Sweden on the 12th of May 1978. When she was two years old, her family relocated to Canada when her dad landed a new job there. Sadly, her parents got divorced four years later. Both her mom and dad remarried, giving her two half-sisters and a half-brother in the process, but her mom still divorced for the second time a few years later.
Growing up, Malin Akerman attended Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School in St. Catharines, Ontario. She also later attended a Catholic school even though she was brought up as a Buddhist. Becoming an actress was very far from Malin’s initial plans as she had her eyes on modelling. She was introduced to modelling by her mother and started getting modelling jobs, she left the industry at the age of twelve but returned to it after four years and won a modelling contract with a skincare company, Noxzema.
She then relocated to Toronto when she joined the North Toronto Collegiate Institute. Malin Akerman also attended Dante Alighieri Academy. When she was eighteen, she decided to become a child psychologist as a result of the helplessness she experienced during her formative years. She then attended York University for a year.
While at York, the emerging actress got several guest roles on TV because of her modelling experience. She found herself enjoying the profession and made the conscious decision to drop out of school to pursue a career in acting

When she was active as the lead singer of the band Petalstones, Malin Akerman began dating the band’s drummer – Roberto Zincone. Even though Roberto couldn’t speak English, they were able to communicate through the aid of a dictionary. They eventually got married on the 20th of June 2007 at the Grand Hotel Moon Valley in Sorrento, Italy. Unfortunately, their marriage ended in 2013 but not before the birth of their only child Sebastian Zincone, who was born on the 16th of April 2013.
Malin Akerman has since gone into a second marriage with Jack Donnelly – a famed actor of British origin. They tied the knot on the 1st of December 2018.
