Marc Blucas is a veteran American actor best known for his role in the hit television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer as Riley Finn. The accomplished actor was born Marcus Pail Blucas on January 11, 1972, to Mary Catherine Gordon and Walter Joseph Lucas in Butler, Pennsylvania. He is the younger of two children born to the couple. His older sister is named Katherine. His mother was a school superintendent while his father was an education administrator. Marc’s father was also a sportsman so he grew to be an athletic child. He was considered the star player of the basketball team from middle school through high school, leading his squad to many victories and two 2A trophies. Marc had the distinguished honor of being named one of the best players in the country in high school. He was averaging 20.8 points and 10.2 rebounds per game at this point. Thanks to him, his school was ranked as one of the top high school programs in the nation.

After graduation, Marc Blucas went on to Wake Forest University on a full scholarship. He earned a degree in business and speech communication. He also served as the shooting guard on the university’s basketball team, helping them compete in four National Collegiate Athletic Association tournaments. His athletic abilities and incredible skills won him a postgraduate scholarship in his senior year, as well as a Murray C. Freedom Sr. Athletic Academic Award. Marc had big league dreams of playing in the NBA, however, he failed to make the cut during the NBA draft.

Still determined to play basketball professionally, he relocated to England to use his talents for the Manchester Giants, but an unfortunate injury forced him to quit after one season. Marc went on to found a company specializing in contract and endorsement negotiation services for athletes. He decided to go to Law School, but he rediscovered his childhood love for acting the day before he was supposed to take the admission test.
