Marcelo Vieira Biography
The Brazilian defender was born on 12 May 1988 in Rio de Janeiro as Marcelo Vieira da Silva Júnior. Growing up in a rather poor family, Marcelo had always played futsal as a child, so it was clear even before his teenage years that he would make a career there.
The game, futsal, with which he began, is an indoor form of football, but before he went too far, he easily switched to football as he plays it today.
Football Career – Real Madrid C.F
Marcelo Vieira began his football career in 2002 with the Fluminense youth team in Brazil. He remained with the team until 2005 when he was promoted to the senior national team where he played until 2006.
Having played just 30 games for the club, the left-back had already attracted scouts from many major clubs, including Sevilla and Real Madrid, where his icon and compatriot Roberto Carlos played at the time. Although he had almost reached an agreement with Sevilla before he learned that Real Madrid was interested in him, Marcelo chose the latter club.
Since signing the contract with La Liga, Marcelo had no reason to change the club. With over 320 matches played for the club and more than 20 goals scored, he has won 4 La Liga titles, 2 Copa del Rey titles, 3 Supercopa de España, 3 UEFA Super Cups, and 3 FIFA Club World Cups. He has also won 4 UEFA Champions League titles in 5 years. In the 2017-2018 Champions League, he supported Gareth Bales in his second goal to help the team win the title.
Marcelo Vieira Family
The star defender of Real Madrid has his life around his family members. While very little is known about his parents, it is known that while his father was a fireman, his mother was a teacher, among other things.
For him, one of the most important people in his life was his grandfather, Don Pedro, who encouraged him to continue playing football, even though his mother was sometimes against it because he destroyed things around the house. At a certain point in his life, Marcelo Vieira wanted to leave football when he was very young, but his grandfather encouraged him to continue.
In fact, not only did Don Pedro accompany him most of his training, but he also worked very hard to get transportation costs for the two of them. Marcelo would stay very close to his grandfather until 2014 if he died of cancer during the World Cup. Another member of his family who is close to him besides Don Pedro is his sister Julia Vieira.
The Brazilian international is now married to Clarisse Alves. The two have been seeing each other since he was 15 years old, and shortly after that, they began to meet. They married in 2008 and in 2009 they had their first son, Enzo Gattuso Alves Vieira. Their next child, Liam, was born in 2015.
