The baller was born Marcus David Morris on September 2, 1989, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was here that he was raised alongside 4 brothers by their single mother, Thomasine “Angel” Morris.
Although he would come to be great in the game of basketball, what he had wanted as a child was to be a football player. It was, however, Dan Brinkley who would go on to become his agent that convinced him to give the game of basket a try. Why Brinkley decided to convince him to play basketball was because he was his coach while in high school.
For his education, Marcus Morris attended the Prep Charter High School just like his brother, and from there, he went to the University of Kansas. While he was in college, he was named Men’s Basketball Player of the Year in 2011 by the Big 12 Conference as well as a second-team All-American in the same year.
Marcus began his professional career when he was picked by the Houston Rockets in the 2011 NBA draft. He remained with the team until 2013 when he moved to the Phoenix Suns where he met and played alongside his brother.
It was there that he recorded his first double-double with career-highs of 34 points and 12 rebounds. He achieved this in 2015 before leaving for the Detroit Pistons where he remained until 2017. It was there that he got to play with his brother from 2013 to 2015. It was during this time that they became the first set of twins to ever start in an NBA game for the same team.
What has come to be known about the two brothers is that they have a certain kind of bond that is not known to be shared by many other twins. What makes it even more interesting is that they are identical and back when they were playing AAU basketball, Markieff was able to swap shirts with his brother who was injured to play as him.
Unlike a lot of other basketball stars, Marcus Morris has no known girlfriend and thus far, there is no public knowledge of him ever dating anyone in the past. His brother Markieff Morris, on the other hand, has been in a relationship and is in fact, married to Thereza Morris, with whom he has a daughter.
