She was born Marjorie Armstrong Post but would, later on, be more popularly known as Markie Post. Markie was born on November 4, 1950, in Palo Alto, California. Probably one of the factors that influenced her into the arts of the screen was the fact that her mother, Marylee Post, was a poet. Her father, on the other hand, Richard F. Post was a nuclear physicist. Markie has two siblings – Rodney Post and Stephen Post.
She and her siblings were brought up in Stanford and Walnut Creek. She attended High School at Las Lomas High School and during her time there, Post like most students, was involved in extracurricular activities, she stood out as she was on the school cheerleader team.
Moving to Portland, Oregon she attended Lewis & Clark College; she also spent a brief period at Pomona College as well. Post graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Arts. Prior to acting, Markie served in numerous game shows as part of their production crews. It was not a career move that would seem natural for an upcoming talent with dreams to hit it big in Hollywood. As time will tell, it appears her stint with game shows helped her with valuable experience.
She was a part of Tom Kennedy’s Split Second. She also worked as Assistant Producer of Alex Trebek’s Double Dare. As she gained more fame, she appeared as a guest celebrity player on various game shows, including Pyramid and Password.

She later fell in love with Micheal A. Ross who is a producer and writer. Ross is the producer of hits such as Rules of Engagement (2007), Better Off Ted (2009), and Kirk (1995). Micheal and Markie were married on February 7th, 1982 and they have two daughters together namely, Katie Ross and Daisy Ross. Her acting debut came in 1978, in the American game show, Card Sharks and she had the role of card dealer on the show.
