Matthias Schoenaerts Latest Works, Reception or Criticism and Relationship History

Matthias Schoenaerts was kicked out of a film school for exhibiting sluggish and lazy traits. Today, he is vastly admired for his astounding performances as an actor, especially in his country Belgium; although he has also gained the attention of the world. This actor is a co-owner of Hakuna Casting, a Belgian casting agency that supports diversity. He partly owes his success to his lineage as he grew up under the tutelage of his father Julien Schoenaerts, a legendary actor who died in September 2006.

Born in Antwerp, Belgium on December 8, 1977, Matthias made his acting debut in a stage production opposite his father when he was only 9 years old. His mother Dominique Wiche was a French teacher, translator, and costume designer.

It is worthy to note that the celebrated actor worked towards being a soccer player, he was even a part of a professional team known as Beerschot AC. But then, he abandoned the career path when he was 16. Schoenaerts completed his studies at Antwerp’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in 2003.

He appeared mostly in Belgian films like Any Way the Wind Blows (2003), A Message from Outer Space (2004), Love Belongs to Everyone (2006), and The Gang of Oss (2011). Matthias Schoenaerts shot into the international scene after he played Anthony Scarfo in 2014’s thriller, Blood Ties (2014).

Is Matthias Schoenaerts Dating Anyone?

His current relationship status is not known but he had a wonderful affair with a woman in Antwerp, a practicing lawyer named Alexandra Schouteden.

The two reportedly started dating in 2012 and were like an old married couple: living happily together with their two kittens, flooding the social media with romantic photos, and going everywhere together; they attended the Rust and Bone screening in New York City in 2012.

From all indications, Matthias Schoenaerts was very happy with the lawyer. He appeared to be uninterested in any other woman throughout his romance with Alexandra. Even the normal rumors and controversies that are usually associated with celebrities like him were absent in their relationship.

Unfortunately, they ran out of passion. While we may want to believe they might still be dating secretly, we can’t deny it’s most likely they have parted ways. The actor hasn’t said much about his love life of late; hardly can anyone authenticate anything about him in that regard.
