Maureen Mccormick is an American-born actress, singer, and writer. She came into the limelight as a child star on the classic 70s sitcom The Brady Bunch after which she appeared on several spinoffs of the show. A star of diverse talents, Mccormick also had a brief musical career during which she recorded several albums and embarked on a tour with other cast members of The Brady Bunch.
Despite her immense success on The Brady Bunch, Mccormick had difficulties in her career resulting from challenges in her personal life. Maureen Denise McCormick was born on August 5, 1956, in Encino, California. The only daughter of Irene (née Beckman) and William McCormick, she was raised alongside 3 older brothers Michael, Dennis, and Kevin. She began modeling from a very young age and she got to feature in several commercials on national TV.
As a teenager, Maureen McCormick got her career-defining moment in 1969 when she landed a spot on the main cast of the sitcom The Brady Bunch. She was cast as the oldest daughter of the Brady household Marcia Brady, a role which she played throughout the show’s 5-season run. The show was later rebroadcast for several years after its original release thus garnering an inter-generational following and leading to spinoffs and movie adaptations. McCormick reprised her Marcia Brady role in The Brady Brides, The Brady Girls Get Married (1981) The Brady Bunch Hour, and A Very Brady Christmas (1988).
