The talented actor first achieved fame when he starred as Vinnie Delpino in Doogie Howser, M.D., a medical drama series which aired from 1989 to 1993.

Max Casella was born in Brooklyn, New York on the 6th of June 1967. At birth, he was named Maximilian Deitch but he later adopted his mother’s maiden name, “Casella”, as his professional name.

He has Russian-Jewish ancestry on his father’s side and Italian ancestry on his mother’s side of the family. This actor was raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts and there, he attended Cambridge Rindge and Latin School.

As a teenager, Casella marked his screen debut on the kiddies show Don’t Look Now! (1983) produced by WGBH-TV in Boston, Massachusetts. The show got cancelled after only a few episodes and Casella did not record any other screen appearance until the late 80s when he had attained adulthood.

After playing minor roles in a few TV shows, Max Casella landed his first major role as Vinnie Delpino on the medical series Doogie Howser, M.D.(1989-1993) starring alongside . The talented actor appeared in all 4 seasons of the highly successful show and his performance greatly endeared him to TV viewers. His next big role was on the animated series Cro (1993–94) in which he voiced the titular character – Cro. He also featured in another animated series, The Adventures of Hyperman (1994-95), in which he lent his voice to the role of Studd Puppy.

Also in the 1990s, Casella marked his feature film debut in the musical comedy Newsies (1992), starring alongside , and Ann-Margret. He also starred in other movies like Ed Wood (1994), Trial and Error (1997), Analyze This (1999), and The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea (2000). He voiced the character Zini in the highly successful animated adventure movie, Dinosaur (2000).

While his film credits soared, the talented actor landed the recurring role of Benny Fazio, a soldier, on the highly-acclaimed crime series, The Sopranos (2001-07) on HBO. Afterwards, he appeared in the ESPN mini-series, The Bronx Is Burning (2007), in which he played the role of baseball coach Dick Howser. He also starred in season 1 of the crime series Boardwalk Empire (2010) followed by a guest appearance on The Confession (2011). Casella was also on the main cast of the one-season-long series Vinyl (2016). More recently, he joined the cast of the comedy series, The Detour (2017-present), in which he plays the recurring character Joe Delicious. He has also had a recurring guest role in the long-running crime series Ray Donovan (2018).
