On the 16th of September 1985 in Hampstead, London, Max Giorgio Choa Minghella was born to Anthony Minghella and Carolyn Jane Choa.
Max’s ethnicity is multi-ethnic due to his parents’ ancestry. Paternally, he is of Italian descent, as his father – although born in England – has Italian ancestors, maternally, he has Chinese, Jewish, English and Swedish heritage. His great-grandfather Robert Kotewall was a well-known legislator in Hong Kong while his great-great-grandfather, Emanuel Raphael Belilious was a businessman who was born in Calcutta. As a result, his hereditary ethnic pool is rich and very diverse.
Max Minghella has just one sibling, a half-sister – Hannah Minghella who is the President of the film studio company TriStar Pictures. During his childhood, the actor spent most of his days on the sets of his father’s movies and as a director, Anthony never pressured Max to take up a job in the movie industry, but in the course of time, he grew to carve out a career for himself in the acting industry.
