Melody Thomas Scott is an American actress of Caucasian ethnicity. The actress rose to prominence as a result of the success and popularity of the 1979 American Soap Opera, The Young and The Restless. She appeared as Nikki Newman in the serial drama, a poor girl from the wrong side of life who became a stripper and eventually won Victor’s heart. This saw her become one of the most important characters in the soap opera.
For over 38 years now, Melody has been a very important cast on the show. She is also a co-founder of Save the Earth Foundation, an organization that has mandated itself to create awareness about the constant degradation of planet earth.

It was on the 18th of April and in the year 1956 that this actress was birthed. Her place of birth was in Los Angeles, California and she was named Melody Ann Thomas. Melody was raised by her grandmother and would later attend the University of Southern California where she majored in music. Much isn’t known about her childhood apart from the fact that she always had a burning desire for acting even as a child, a desire which she nurtured with utmost care.
Her first appearance in a movie came at the tender age of 8 when she got a chance to appear in Alfred Hitchcock’s movie, Marnie. Melody was thrilled to be able to portray Young Marnie in the movie. In the 70s, she appeared in more movies including Charlie’s Angels where she got to act as Betsy Harper. Melody also landed a recurring role on The Walton’s and a good number of other roles.
Her big break, however, came in the year 1979 at age 23 when she got the chance to play the character of Nikki Newman on the Daytime Series, The Young and the Restless. In a short while, her character got refined and she became an integral member of the Genoa society. That same year, she guest starred in various TV shows such as; Rockford Files in which she played the role of Sherry, Billy wherein she portrayed Shirley and Makin It which saw her act as Paula. The latter wasn’t a very successful effort. In fact, it was once ranked as one of the worst TV shows of all time.
Following the success of her role in The Young and the Restless which ushered her into stardom, Melody Thomas Scott has gone on to feature in several movies and Television series such as The Scarlet O’Hara War in which she played the character of Laurie Lee. You will also find her as Linda Flemming in The Paradise Virus and as Tonya Flemming in Castle.
Scott’s Husband, Children, and Family
Lots of people are totally oblivious of the fact that Melody Thomas Scott has been married thrice in her life. In 1979, she married her first husband Lindy Davis but the pair got divorced later on. The very next year (1980), she got married to her second husband, Bob Shield. The union failed like the first and so in 1985, she got married to her third and present husband, Edward J. Scott. It is said that she met Edward on the set of The Young and the Restless; with him being the executive producer. Their marriage has already survived three decades and looking at the way things are for them, there is no parting.
Melody and her husband Scott are parents to three children named Elizabeth Scott, Jennifer Scott, and Alexandra Scott. Alexandra was adopted by her husband Scott in his previous marriage.
On 25th May 2011, the actress became a grandmother. This was after her daughter, Jennifer, gave birth to twins – a boy and a girl named James and Charlotte respectively. Melody lives happily with her husband and family in Beverly Hills, California.
