The stand-up comedian, actor, and television personality does not just do comedy; he lives it. He is known for his shows Michael McIntyre’s Big Show and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow that airs on BBC One. Michael has also been featured as one of the judges on Britain’s Got Talent.

Michael McIntyre’s Bio

The English man was born Michael Hazen James McIntyre in Merton, London on February 21, 1976. Michael was pictured on the big screen for the first time in his life on April Fool’s Day in 1989 at the BBC One studios during an episode of their Saturday morning show Going Live! He was just 13 at the time and was filmed throwing a question to Five Star, the pop group that was the guest of the show for the episode.

Years on, Michael has built a lucrative relationship with the network. The comedian featured three times on BBC One’s Live at the Apollo show in 2007, 2008, and 2009. He also went on to host his Saturday night show Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow with the network starting 2009. McIntyre’s comedy DVD releases have also shipped over five million units in the UK alone. The DVDs include Happy and Glorious, Hello Wembley, Showtime, and Live and Laughing.

Over the course of his career, he has been in a plethora of comedy panel and talk shows including Chris’ Moyles Quiz Night; 8 out of 10 Cats; The Apprentice: You’re Fired!; Friday Night with Jonathan Ross; and Have I Got News For You among others. He has also appeared on an episode of BBC’s show Top Gear.

Michael’s leaned towards charitable events showed in 2010 when he attended a benefit event organized by Channel 4’s Comedy Gala in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital. In the same year, he was also on Channel 4’s The Big Fat Quiz of the Year.

In 2011, Michael McIntyre added to his TV personality profile when he became a judge on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent along with David Hasselhoff and Amanda Holden, replacing Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan. He fulfilled the responsibility for 19 episodes before moving on to the complementary show Britain’s Got More Talent in the same year. Michael has also performed on ITV’s Royal Variety Performance in 2006 and 2008 and became its host for the 2010 and 2014 editions.

McIntyre’s relationship with BBC One continued when he co-hosted the network’s Comic Relief show briefly in 2011 and 2013. In 2014, he launched his own talk show on BBC One titled The Michael McIntyre Chat Show. His latest collaboration with the network started in April 2016 and saw him work as a presenter of the Saturday night Michael McIntyre’s Big Show.

His only two acting roles are in the comedy horror film BloodBath at the House of Death where he played a minor role as a kid in 1984 and in a two-minute comedy clip titled How to Behave where he portrayed a cinema usher in 2012He released an autobiography Life and Laughing: My Story in 2010.

The English man has a massive following as evidenced by his 2012 tour of the UK which took in 71 venues and recorded ticket sales of around £21 million. The tour’s success saw him largely touted as the biggest selling comedian of 2012. The next year, he also achieved another feat when he performed to 9,000 fans in Johannesburg, South Africa. McIntyre kicked of his Michael McIntyre’s World Tour in early 2017. The tour was planned to perform 104 shows across 5 continents in two years.

The Brit comes from a large household. He was born to Ray and Kati Cameron. His father Ray Cameron, a Canadian, was also a popular comedian in his time. Through Ray and Kati, Michael had one other fully biological sibling, a daughter named Lucy. After his parent’s divorce, the comedian gained a lot more family members. He gained two step-siblings – Georgina and Billy – from his father’s second union and three more – Nicholas, Thomas, Andre- from his mother’s subsequent union.

Wife (Kitty) and Kids

He has been married to Kitty Ward since 2003. Kitty is the daughter of the late English actor Simon Ward. Her sister Sophie Ward is also an actress. Together, they have two sons, Lucas and Oscar.

Michael is an avid sports fan, especially of soccer and cricket. He supports the English soccer team, Tottenham Hotspur.

On June 4, 2018, he was robbed while waiting in front of his children’s school. The robber took his Rolex watch.

In 2010, McIntyre became the youngest person ever to host the Royal Variety Performance.

After Michael’s parents split, they put up their home for sale. It was eventually taken off their hands by celebrity couple Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne.

The comedian has received more than 20 nominations since 2003 and has won 7 of them so far. These include a Chortle Award, British Comedy Award, BAFTA Award, GQ Award, and a National Television Award.
