Michele Bachmann is popular for several reasons which boil down to being a politician. The American is a former member of the country’s House of Representatives and one of the well-known female figures of the Republican Party.
She made history as the first Republican woman to be elected to the United States House of Representatives from the state of Minnesota. The former Congresswoman is known as a firm fiscal conservative and founding leader of the House Tea Party Caucus. She is also known for her strong opposition to abortion and same-sex marriage.
Prior to her election into the US Congress in 2006, Michele Bachmann served in the Minnesota Senate, the upper legislative house of the US state. Between 2007 and 2015, Bachmann represented Minnesota’s 6th congressional district at the United States House of Representatives. More than being a supporter of the Tea Party movement, she founded the House Tea Party Caucus in collaboration with the Tea Party movement in July 2010.
Michele Bachmann was one of the final six candidates for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, however, she dropped out in January 2012 before seeking reelection for her seat in Congress. Bachmann announced her retirement from Congress on May 29, 2013, stating that she would not seek re-election to her Congressional seat the following year. Nevertheless, the former congresswoman stated that she was not retiring permanently from politics. According to her, she still has her eyes set on some political prospects including the White House.

Michele Marie Bachmann (née Amble) was born on April 6, 1956. Her place of birth was in Waterloo, Iowa. But then, her family moved to Brooklyn Park, Minnesota when she was a teenager.
When her parent’s marriage collapsed, her father David John Amble remarried and relocated to California. Bachmann and her mother, Arlene Jean also relocated to Anoka, Minnesota. Her mother eventually remarried a man named Raymond J. LaFave and the new marriage earned Bachmann 8 new siblings.
It is unknown to many that Michele Bachmann was raised in a Democratic family. She turned Republican during her undergraduate days at Winona State University. On several occasions, she has credited her political conversion partly to her disappointment at the presidency of Jimmy Carter and her approval of that of Ronald Reagan.
Her Education
Michele Marie Bachmann had her high school education at Anoka High School and upon her graduation in 1974, spent one summer working in Israel. She had her college education at Winona State University and graduated in 1978.
In 1979, Bachmann began attending the O. W. Coburn School of Law, then a part of Oral Roberts University; as a member of its founding class, she graduated with a J.D. degree in 1986 as a member of the last class.
She also attended the William & Mary School of Law where she graduated with an LL.M. degree in tax law in 1988. Bachmann served as an attorney for the IRS (Internal Revenue Service) between 1988 to 1993.
After the birth of her 4th child, Bachmann left the IRS to become a stay-at-home mother. She also helped found the charter school, New Heights School, which opened in September 1993. Her first run for office was a failed bid to head the board of the school.
Michele Bachmann Husband
The former congresswoman got married way back in 1978. She met her husband Marcus Bachmann during her days as a college student. His parents were immigrants from Switzerland and therefore he holds dual citizenship in the United States and Switzerland.
Mr Bachmann works as a clinical therapist. He holds a master’s degree from Regent University and a doctorate degree from Union Graduate School. In the late 1980s, the couple relocated to Stillwater, Minnesota where they set up a Christian counseling center, Bachmann & Associates.
Family Life
Michele Bachmann has five children with her husband Marcus. They are sons; Lucas and Harrison and daughters; Elisa, Caroline, and Sophia. In addition to their 5 biological children, the Bachmanns have also opened their home to 23 foster children, all teenage girls. Certainly, the couple has a very large heart.
The Bachmanns started the journey into foster parenthood by providing support for young girls suffering from eating disorders and with time their home became a sanctuary for such maidens. Between 1992 to 2000, they were authorized to take in up to 3 children at a time. They had the children for varying lengths of time, some for weeks while others stayed as long as 3 years. They took in the last child in 1998.
