Young Michael was raised to tow the teaching career path of both his father and grandfather but he had a keen interest in music especially R n B which was stirred up because he was always listening to American musician, Richard Wayne Penniman popularly known as Little Richard. He became an active member of the church choir and an avid listener of singers on whatever platform he could hear them from.

In July 1960, Mick Jagger reunited with his primary schoolmate and friend, Keith Richards, who also had shared musical passion at the Dartford railway station. In 1961, Jagger met fellow English musician and guitarist Lewis Brian Jones, and together with Keith, they moved to London, sharing a flat they rented in Edith Grove, Chelsea.
