Dmitri “Misha” Tippens Krushnic was born on the 20th of August, 1974. His stage name is Misha Collins; ‘Collins’ is derived from the maiden name of great grandmother maiden name. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts to Rebecca Tippens and Richard Krushnic. He is unsure of his family’s origins but knows that they have been in Canada for at least six generations.
Misha attended Greenfield Center School in Franklin County, Massachusetts; Northfield Mount Hermon School, a co-ed college prep school in Mount Hermon. He also later studied Social Theory at the University of Chicago.
Before turning to act, he was an intern at the White House as a staff of the Office of Presidential Personnel during the Clinton administration.

On the 6th of October, Misha Collins got married, in Maine, to Victoria Vantoch – a sexuality historian. Together, the couple has a daughter – Maison Marie – who was born on the 25th of September 2012 and a son – West Anaximander – who was born on the 23rd of September 2010.
