The actress was born in Brooklyn, New York City, on May 28, 1979, to Bill and Mary Keena. She is the youngest daughter and her older sister is Samantha. Raised by her mother and grandmother, the New Yorker attended Saint Ann’s School and later on, got accepted into the dramatic and vocal arts departments at LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts. Shortly after she started classes at the school, Keena played in her first role in the short film ‘Burning Love’.

Keena landed her very first movie, While You Were Sleeping in 1995 as a teenager. Subsequently, the actress has featured in tons of films including Law & Order. As from March 1998 to May 1999, the Brooklyn native played Abby Morgan on Dawson’s Creek – she reportedly asked to be written out of the play, citing boredom for playing the same character.
