Monica Samille Lewinsky was born on the 23rd of July 1973 in San Francisco, Northern California, but grew up in the Southern part of the state, the affluent Brentwood area of Los Angeles to be exact. She received her education here, first attending the religious Sinai Akiba Academy then John Thomas Dye School in Bel-Air. For her high school education, Lewinsky was enrolled at the Beverly Hills High School where she studied up to her senior year before transferring to Bel Air Prep.

Upon graduation in 1991, Lewinsky enrolled at a two-year community college in Santa Monica while she worked at her former high school’s drama department. After completing the two-year program in 1993, she transferred to Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon where she was able to complete the requirements to be awarded a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

Having completed her education, Monica Lewinsky was able to use family connections to land an unpaid summer internship at the White House in the office of Leon Panetta, a former House of Representative member from California who was serving as the White House Chief of Staff under President Bill Clinton. When that internship ended, Lewinsky was able to land another position, this time a paid position at the White House Office of Legislative Affairs. She held that job for a few months; from December 1995 to April 1996, before her superiors transferred her to the Pentagon over what was said to be her uncharacteristic friendship with President Clinton.

At the Pentagon, Lewinsky was made an assistant to chief Pentagon spokesperson Kenneth Bacon. She held that position until December 1997 after which it was revealed that she had sexual relations with Clinton. This made Monica Lewinsky a household name as she was included in the investigation against the president for the land-use deals he made as Governor of Arkansas as well as possible perjury and subornation of perjury in another sexual harassment civil case brought forward by former Arkansas state employee Paula Jones.

Lewinsky’s affair with Clinton gave her celebrity status although it brought forward legal issues of its own. She was at the end granted full immunity in exchange for her testimony against the president. By the time the whole ordeal was done, Monica Lewinsky was neck-deep in debt due to her legal bills and high living costs.

By 2005, almost a decade after her affair made headlines across the globe, Lewinsky enrolled at the London School of Economics where she graduated with a Master of Science degree in social psychology.
