Read on to learn more about her family, education, and career.
Monica Lewinsky Bio (Age and Education)
Monica Samille Lewinsky was born on July 23, 1973, in San Francisco, Northern California, but grew up in the southern part of the state, more precisely in the prosperous Brentwood area of Los Angeles. Here she received her education and attended first the Sinai Akiba Religious Academy and then the John Thomas Dye School in Bel-Air. For her high school education, Lewinsky was enrolled at Beverly Hills High School, where she studied until her senior year before joining Bel-Air Prep.
After graduating in 1991, Lewinsky enrolled in a two-year community college in Santa Monica while working in the drama department of her former high school. After completing the two-year program in 1993, she moved to Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, where she was able to meet the requirements for a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
After completing her education, Monica Lewinsky used family connections to take an unpaid summer internship at the White House in the office of Leon Panetta, a former member of the California House of Representatives who served as White House Chief of Staff under President Bill Clinton. When this internship ended, Lewinsky was able to secure another position, this time a paid position in the White House Legislative Affairs Office. She held this position for several months, from December 1995 to April 1996, before her superiors transferred her to the Pentagon because of her allegedly atypical friendship with President Clinton.
At the Pentagon, Lewinsky was appointed assistant to the Pentagon’s chief spokesman, Kenneth Bacon. She held this position until December 1997, when it became known that she had sexual relations with Clinton. This made Monica Lewinsky a household name as she was involved in the investigation against the President for the land-use deals he had made as Governor of Arkansas, and for possible perjury and incitement to perjury in another civil sexual harassment case brought by former Arkansas state employee Paula Jones.
Lewinsky’s affair with Clinton gave her celebrity status, although she raised legal questions of her own. In the end, she was granted full immunity in exchange for her testimony against the president. When all the martyrdom was over, Monica Lewinsky was up to her neck in debt because of her legal bills and high cost of living.
In 2005, almost a decade after her affair made headlines around the world, Lewinsky enrolled at the London School of Economics, where she earned a Master of Science degree in Social Psychology.
Monica Lewinsky is said to have net assets of approximately $500,000. She was able to earn her money through sponsoring contracts with various companies, television appearances, but also through a book contract and the sale of her designer handbag collection.
Monica Lewinsky comes from a wealthy Jewish family. Her father, Bernard Lewinsky, is the son of German Jews who came to the United States via El Salvador. He is a certified radio oncologist and a Fellow of the American College of Radiology, as he heads the West Hills Radiotherapy Center.
Her mother, Marcia Kay Vilensky, who calls herself Marcia Lewis, is the daughter of Lithuanian-Russian Jews. She is an author best known for her gossip biography “The private lives of the three tenors”.
Height and Weight Loss
Monica Lewinsky is 1.68 m (5 feet 6 inches) tall. Lewinsky had moved after the fall to live a life away from the limelight, but due to the large debts she was in, she accepted a sponsorship contract with the diet company Jenny Craig, Inc.
Lewinsky, who allegedly struggled with weight problems all her life and was also made a laughing stock by the media, accepted their offer to lose all her weight with their products and at the same time appear in television commercials for the company for a fee.
