English actress Natalie Dormer has proven her versatility over the years since beginning her career in 2005. She has starred in numerous TV shows and films and has had some critically acclaimed theater roles. She rose to great prominence for playing the part of Margaery Tyrell on the hit HBO series Game of Thrones which earned her two SAG nominations. Some of her notable movies include The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and 2, The Forest, and The Professor and the Madman.

On the 11th of February 1982 in Reading, Berkshire, England, Natalie Dormer was born to Claire Richards and Gary Dormer. She has two siblings including a brother Mark and a sister, Samantha.

Natalie attended Chiltern Edge Secondary School and later, Reading Blue Coat School. She was a balanced student in school excelling both in extra-curricular activities as well as in academics. As part of her school’s public speaking team, Natalie was opportune to travel the world at a young age. She was the head girl and the vice-captain of her school netball team.

Her artistic traits developed at the Allenova School of Dancing where she took dance classes. Dormer, as she has severally disclosed was the “academic hopeful” of her family. She earned the place to study history at Cambridge, however, it slipped her by after she failed to make the A grade required to seal her admission to the school.

Her academic dreams truncated and Dormer turned her focus towards pursuing a career in acting. She trained to act at London’s Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. A fast learner, Dormer didn’t have to pay her dues for long before acting jobs started coming. While still studying in London, she earned the part of Adriana in the Shakespeare comedy The Comedy of Errors, played at The Cliveden Open Air Theatre in 2003.

Two years later and exactly 6 months after she graduated from Webber Douglas, Dormer landed the role of Victoria in the 2005 romantic comedy film, Casanova. Her role was originally planned to be just a small one, however, after the makers observed her exceptional ability to handle comedy, the role was expanded.

Natalie Dormer began her career on such a right foot but she didn’t quite sail immediately. Right after Casanova, she struggled in the following ten months as she was unable to land roles. This was chiefly because of the financial troubles that plagued an independent film on which she was attached.

During those periods of being without a job, Dormer supported herself financially by waiting tables at restaurants and as a data entry clerk. When Dormer did score her next role, it proved to be worth the wait. She landed the part of Anne Boleyn in the historical series, The Tudors.

The role brought to her the attention of many film critics who had only but acclaim for her. She earned two Gemini Awards nomination for the role. After her character was killed off in the second season, Natalie went on to greater heights. Her next major achievement was a stage debut at the Young Vic in 2010 in the play Sweet Nothings.
