Natalie Imbruglia is officially a British woman having nationalized to become a citizen of the great Island in 2013, but she was born in Australia to Maxene and Elliot Imbruglia as one of their four daughters. One of her sisters, Laura Imbruglia, is also a singer and a songwriter. As one could probably tell from her surname, Natalie is of Italian descent with Irish and English ancestry. She was raised in Australia, specifically in Berkeley Vale, New South Wales where she attended St. Peters Catholic College.
Her family’s decision to relocate to Sydney put Natalie in contact with her passion to become an entertainer. She enrolled in a dance school where she studied ballet, tap, and highland dancing. Her personality and looks helped her secure a couple of roles in television commercials as a teenager, giving her the first taste of acting. Having experienced the world of acting, Natalie quit school in other to become a full-time actress. She released her first single, Torn, which was a part of the demo songs that got her a record deal from RCA Records. The song was well received and it reached number two on the UK Singles Chart in 1997.
