With parents who used to get a lot of thumbs up as professional tennis players, Nelly Korda had the right platform to get grounded in sports while growing up. Both Nelly’s parents – Petr Korda (father) and Regina Rajchrtová (mother) are retired, professional tennis players. Petr, in his younger days, won the 1998 Australian Open crown, making him a grand slam champion. Similarly, Sebastian, Nelly’s younger brother followed in his parents’ footsteps and has gone on to win the 2018 Australian Open title in the boys’ division. In addition to being the reigning champion, the young star also ranks No. 2 in the world’s ITF junior rankings currently.

Notwithstanding the family’s history with tennis, Nelly Korda and her sister Jessica preferred to play golf and are doing quite well in the game as both Korda sisters play on the LPGA Tour.

Nelly Korda’s Biography

On July 28, 1998, in Bradenton, Florida, the golfer was born as the second child in her family. She was born to former professional tennis player Petr Korda and his wife Regina Rajchrtová who played for the Czech Republic, their home country. Among the three children born to tennis players, only one, their son Sebastian followed in their footsteps and is doing remarkably well in his chosen career. Their daughters, on the other hand, chose to blaze their own trail on the golf course, building their careers from the amateur stage to their current status as professionals. The sisters picked an interest in golf when they were still very young and subsequently began practicing and honing their skills at least six times a week.

While there are no elaborate details about her educational background, we can confirm that Nelly was home-schooled for her early education and she has already graduated from high school in December 2016. Though she has hopes of getting into college someday, Nelly Korda is more interested in building her career as a professional golfer at the moment. In 2013, at the U.S. Women’s Open, she made her debut in the big league. Three years later, her sister Jessica was brought to tears when Nelly got her pro card in 2016.

Her Amateur Career As A Golfer

Before going pro, Korda was a member of the 2015 U.S. Junior Solheim Cup and also scooped the title for the 2015 Harter Hall Invitational, the 2015 PING Invitational, and got named as the 2015 AJGA Rolex Junior All-American. Earlier in 2013, she made the cut at the U.S. Women’s Open.

Professional Career As A Golfer

After earning her pro card in 2016, Korda began her career as a professional in 2016 on the Symetra Tour. During the tour, she bagged her first win as a pro at the Sioux Falls GreatLIFE Challenge. She shot rounds of 68-67-69-66 for a 3 stroke victory over Wichanee Meechai. In addition to her victory, she ended the season on the 9th position on the money list which secured her the LPGA Tour card for 2017. The same year, Nelly finished eighth in the July Marathon Classic.
