Famous US politician, Newt Gingrich was one of the top Republican candidates veering for President in the 2012 presidential race but unfortunately, he was not selected to represent the Republicans. Newt, who was also a one-time Speaker of the House of Representatives between 1995 to 1999 is a man that has held several other distinguished positions which include the General Chairman of the American Solutions for Winning the Future and he owns a firm named Gingrich Group which deals with communications and consultancy services with its main focus on transformational change.

A politician is indeed a man of many achievements that even tabloids have even given him names like “the indispensable leader”. In 1995, Time Magazine named him ‘Man of the Year’ and in addition to that, they mentioned that leaders were the ones who make things possible, exceptional leaders make those things inevitable and Newt was not just a leader but an exceptional one.

Newt Gingrich was born July 17th, 1943 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania with full names as Newton Leroy McPherson to his mother, Kathleen, and father, Newton Searles McPherson. His parents who married in their teenage years ended up divorcing barely a few days into their marriage. His mother later got married to Robert Gingrich and Newt took his last name and he has been known with it ever since. He has three younger siblings from his mother’s side named Candace, Susan, and Roberta while from his father’s side he has a step-sister and a step-brother named Randy McPherson.

He graduated from Baker High School in Columbus, Georgia in 1961 then he enrolled in Emory University, Atlanta where he earned a B.A. degree in history after that he completed his post-graduate studies at Tulane University where he got his M.A and Ph.D. in European History. Upon completion of his Ph.D., he took a job with West Georgia College as an Assistant professor in the History Department but later moved to the Geography Department where he worked till 1978 when he got elected into Congress.

His Political Career

In 1974, Newt made his first attempt to gain a seat in the House of Representatives but lost to Democrat candidate, Jack Flynt and even though he tried again in 1976 to beat Jack Flynt, the campaign was also futile. However, he remained in politics and became quite popular over the years and in 1994, Newt Gingrich became the Speaker of the U.S House of Representatives as he had the majority of the Republicans vote.

However, his political career witness some setbacks as he was blamed for many conflicts and government unfavorable actions as a result of his unending issues with President Clinton with regards to federal money matters. The rest of his term as Speaker of the House was chaotic as he faced a series of investigations and even got fined on one occasion for misrepresentation of facts.

Although he won the chance to be Speaker again in 1997, Newt Gingrich was not having it easy in the political arena as his conspiracy to impeach President Clinton got him a backlash even from his own party and by 1998, he stepped down from his post. After resigning from his post, Newt was not playing major roles in American politics for a couple of years during which he worked as a consultant, TV personality and founded the American Solutions for Winning the Future. As rumor for his interest to run for Presidency spread in 2011, he lost his job with Fox.

Though it did not seem possible that he could go anywhere with his campaign, Newt Gingrich gave his best shot at it but his campaign ground to a halt as it was suspended at the beginning of May.

After his failed attempt at being president, Newt Gingrich went back to focus on his media career and by September 2013, he was a co-host on the CNN show Crossfire but the show stopped airing the following year, however, Newt continued working with CNN until 2015 when he returned to Fox News.

He started an affair with Marianne Ginther while married to his first wife and was married to his mistress barely 6 months after his divorce in 1981. However, like the first one, Newt also had an affair while married to Marianne and he is said to have requested a divorce from her in 1999, shortly after it was discovered that she had multiple sclerosis. Although Marianne did not want the divorce, she was left with no choice as Newt was eager to get rid of her and start his life with his newly found younger love, Callista Bisek.

Newt Gingrich who has set a record of marrying barely months after his divorce went down that path again with Callista Bisek whom he married in August 2000. The duo is still together and they seem to be pretty happy together.
