Nick Searcy is an American producer, director, and actor who is popular for his appearances in various movies and Television series.

Having spent more than two and half decades in acting, making appearances in movies and TV shows such as Justified, From Earth to the Moon, The Dead Girl, Cast Away, and many others, there’s no doubt that actor Nick Searcy has earned for himself a degree of respect among his peers and fans as a fine actor with a long, distinguished career in Hollywood films.

Nick Searcy Biography

Nick Searcy was born on March 7, 1959, in Hendersonville, North Carolina where he also gained his basic educational qualifications. From Cullowhee High School, he went on to the North Carolina School of the Arts before heading to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The later was where he graduated with a degree in English. No valid information has been given about his parents or siblings.

In 1982, Searcy moved to New York where he played a role in the Off-Broadway theatre drama which includes Guys and DollsCabaret and Jesus Christ Superstar, and by 1989, he had moved back to North Carolina where he began to feature in acts that were shot locally. This includes movies like the Prince of Tides and the malicious Frank in Fried Green Tomatoes.

Searcy has since then, taken up more roles in movies and TV series such as Thunder AlleyAmerican GothicMurder One and Nash Bridges with Don Johnson. 1995’s American Gothic, which was shot in his home state of North Carolina became his debut role in TV series. The role saw him play Deputy Ben Healy. He also produced, directed and acted in his independent feature Paradise Falls in 1997. Some of his latest appearances include 3 Billboards and The Shape of Water both produced in 2017. He was a guest host on the December 27, 2017, conservative American talk radio show The Rush Limbaugh Show which was hosted by Rush Limbaugh on Premiere Networks. He is, however famous for his role as U.S. Marshal Art Mullen on the FX series Justified. He has also directed and acted in an independent movie titled Carolina Low.

Awards and Nominations

Considering his hard works and dedication in the film industry, it is only natural that he is recognized, celebrated, and rewarded for his part. Searcy, so far, has three awards and four nominations. For instance, his 1997 self-directed and self-produced film Paradise Falls won a Hollywood Discovery Award at the Hollywood Film Festival for Best Feature Film and Best Dramatic Feature at the Charleston, S.C., 1997 WorldFest. There, he also received the golden awards for his role in Paradise Falls. Again, in 1998, he was the winner of the Southeastern Media Award.

Taking a peek into his past nominations,  his first was in 2013 when he was nominated as Best Actor for his role in the much darker retelling of Franz Kafka’s classic Metamorphosis produced in 2012. In 2017, he was a Nominee for Best Cast Ensemble in the American fantasy drama film The Shape of Water. Others on the list include Michael Shannon, Doug Jones, Octavia Spencer, Michael Stuhlbarg, Richard Jenkins, and Sally Hawkins.

In 2018, Searcy was nominated for two awards – the Gold Derby Award for the Ensemble Cast The Shape of Water which he shared with ten other actors including Michael Shannon, Morgan Kelly, Michael Shannon, David Hewlett, Lauren Lee Smith, Octavia Spencer; and the Online Film & Television Association (OFTA Film Award) as Best Ensemble for the movie The Shape of Water.

In addition to his awards and nominations, the American actor has a net worth of $500 000 which he earned mostly from his active role in the film industry. His net worth started to increase from most television programs like the 12-part 1998 HBO television miniseries From the Earth to the Moon. As he continues his career, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.

Searcy has been married since 1986 to actress Leslie Riley who is also known for her role in the crime drama television series  Justified. The couple is blessed with two children named Chloe and Omar. He currently resides in Southern with his family.
