Rodrigo was born on February 20, 2003, in California, USA. Her root is actually Filipino and according to her, her great-grandfather immigrated to the U.S when he was just a teenager. Her grandpa is also Filipino and her dad grew up in a house where everything was Filipino, from the food to every tradition that is from the Philippines.

Although she has never been to the Philippines, she says she feels connected to them, as every tradition of her people has trickled down to her generation. According to her, they have lumpia and other Filipino food every Thanksgiving.

She attends Dorothy McElhinney Middle School but is homeschooled during busy schedules or when she is on set. There isn’t much info online about her parents’ names or if she has siblings.

Her Rise To Stardom

According to Olivia Rodrigo, the idea to try acting came after her singing lesson teacher, told her she was expressive with singing and would do well in acting. Coming from her teacher whom she respected so much, she enrolled in a local acting class, fell in love with it, and began auditioning, she went for tons of auditions before she finally got a role on Grace Stirs Up Success and then on Bizaardvark at age 12.

On Grace Stirs Up Success she starred as Grace Thomas, a young aspiring baker who had to join a baking competition to save her grandparents’ Parisian bakery. About whether she loved baking or had to do it because of the movie, Rodrigo said she actually loved baking.

She revealed in an interview that before she ever got cast in the movie, she and her friends used to have baking parties with their American Girl dolls and that it was both a coincidence and a dream come true that she got the role. Following her excellent performance in Grace Stirs Up Success, she soon got a role on Disney’s Bizaardvark as Paige Olvera. The sitcom is centered around two teenagers – Paige and Frankie, who are aspiring musicians and their day-to-day life as they try to write and perform their own songs.

Olivia said her favorite moments on the show were in the schoolroom where they have notes of quirky things that people have said posted on the wall which they had to look back on later and laugh at it.

She has been cast for a new movie titled Paved New World. The movie is all about skateboarding and she will be featuring as a free-spirited teenager. Speaking about her preparedness for the new movie, she said her dad is a big skateboarder who grew up in the 70s and 80s skateboarding almost every day and that he is really excited to teach her how to skateboard.
