Patrick Reed: Brief Biography
The professional golfer was born on August 5, 1990, in San Antonio, Texas. Reed attended University High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he won the 2006 Junior British Open, qualifying for the U.S. Amateur in 2007. He led the school to both the 2006 and 2007 state championships. From 2005-2006, he won the state medalist honors (2007) and bagged Rolex AJGA All-America honors (2005, 2006, and 2007).
At college, Reed continued his golf career at the University of Georgia. However, his stay at the school was short-lived, from 2008–09. Following issues that led to his dismissal from the institution, Reed majored in business at the Augusta State University. While at the university, he helped secure victory at the 2010 and 2011 NCAA Division I Golf Championships. He also won the Jones Cup Invitational in 2010 right before he launched his professional golf career the following year.
Professional Career
Hot on the heels of his NCAA Championship, Reed’s professional golf career commenced and he played in his first PGA Tour event in June the same year. He also took part in the FedEx St. Jude Classic but missed the cut. Two more events in 2011 and he smiled home with over $20,000.
In 2012, things got better for Reed and he did not just earn over $300,000 on the PGA Tour but earned his PGA Tour card for 2013. In 2013, his victory at the Wyndham Championship in a playoff against Jordan Spieth got him a prestigious spot as the 12th first-time PGA Tour winner of the year.
He reached another milestone at the 2014 Humana Challenge, where he set the PGA Tour record for most strokes under par after 54 holes. He later won the WGC-Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral in Miami, Florida, which has been his biggest win to date. In addition to the fat cheque he got, Reed joined the likes of Tiger Woods, Jordan Spieth, Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy, and Sergio García to become one of the players to earn three PGA Tour wins before his 24th birthday. He’s also the youngest winner of a WGC event and named 20th in the Official World Golf Ranking.
His fourth PGA Tour win came in 2015 at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions.
In 2016, Reed won the first FedEx Cup playoff event, his fifth victory on the PGA Tour and his first FedEx Cup event win. The victory qualified him for the 2016 U.S. Ryder Cup team.

Patrick Reed is married to Justine Karain. The couple tied the knot on December 21, 2012. His wife was his caddie for the qualifying rounds in La Quinta, California. Reed’s performance secured a PGA Tour card at the time. When his wife became pregnant, her brother Kessler became Reed’s caddie.
Justine later gave birth to their healthy daughter Windsor-Wells in May 2014.
