Paul comes from a massive family and learned the value of having people around from a young age. A native of Massachusetts, Paul was born in Dorchester, Boston on March 20, 1964. From an early age, it was clear that Paul wasn’t going to be like any of his siblings. While his younger brothers were dreaming of a future on the red carpet, he was better served to spend time with his mother in the kitchen. By the time he was 10, he could already cook most of his mother’s basic recipes and would often throw new ingredients together to come up with new recipes.
A year or two after his 10th year, he was over at a friend’s house when a serving of an Eggplant Parmesan sandwich made him realize he wouldn’t mind becoming a chef. At his mother’s advice, he set out to do just that.
While still in high school, Paul took up employment as a caterer in a friend’s family-owned restaurant where he washed dishes. After his time with Bridgeman’s, Paul Wahlberg opened up his first solo restaurant named Alma Nove, a nod to his love for his mother who gave birth to eight other children.
His most popular and successful venture yet came with the launch of Wahlburgers, a casual dining restaurant and bar chain that he started with his younger brothers Mark and Donnie. They opened the first Wahlburgers restaurant close to the Alma Nove, in Hingham, Massachusetts. They would eventually spread into international territory when they opened another in Toronto, Canada in 2014.
As of mid-2018, the restaurant chain has become a huge hit in the country with 26 restaurants across states like Florida, New York, South Carolina, North Carolina, Minnesota, and Illinois with a lot more being planned.
The overwhelming success of this franchise drew attention from beyond the food industry. In 2014, a reality television show based on the chain was on A&E Networks.
