Phillip Schofield may not need much of an introduction to many of us who are used to seeing his face every morning on ITV anchoring This Morning alongside Holly Willoughby. The two English TV presenters have come a long way; asides anchoring This Morning show together for years, they have also anchored the British TV show Dancing on Ice since 2006, Holly was later replaced with Christine Bleakley in 2012 but returned after the 2014 series.

Apart from hosting This Morning (which he is well known for), Phillip Schofield has anchored other ITV shows like The Cube, All Star Mr & Mrs and 5 Gold Rings (which he still anchors). Despite his over two decades with the commercial TV network, Schofield did not begin his broadcasting career with the network, he actually began with Radio Hauraki (an Auckland-based station) as a presenter of a youth musical program called Shazam! before working with BBC as a continuity presenter on a Weekday Children program between 1985 and 1987; he also hosted Going Live! – children’s magazine show that aired every Saturday morning on BBC from September 1987 to April 1993.

Phillip Schofield Bio, Age

Schofield was born on the 1st of April 1962 in Oldham, Lancashire but was raised in Newquay, Cornwall. He attended Trenance Infant School and Newquay Tretherras School. Phil has always been interested in the media right from his childhood days. His journey into fulfilling his childhood dreams began at the age of fifteen when he anchored a Sunday show on Hospital Radio Plymouth.

To gather the skill, knowledge, and experience he would be needing to excel in his career, Schofield began writing letters to BBC for the position of a booking clerk and tea boy for its radio house in London; after writing for several years, the network granted his request when he turned seventeen. He was the youngest employee at BBC Radio at the time.

After he turned nineteen, his family relocated to New Zealand; there he landed a job as an anchor presenter of a youth musical program called Shazam! In the course time, precisely after two years at the station, Phillip Schofield returned to Britain in 1985 and became a continuity presenter on a Weekday Children program on BBC between 1985 and 1987; he also hosted Going Live! – children’s magazine show that aired every Saturday morning on the network between September 1987 and April 1993. Between 1988 and 1991, he hosted a pop-magazine awards show called Smash Hits Poll-Winners’ Party.

In the early 1990s, Schofield left the children series and began anchoring adult-oriented TV series for ITV including Ten Ball, Schofield’s TV Gold, and Schofield’s Quest. He also anchored five series of British game show Talking Telephone Numbers which aired on the network from February 1994 to December 1997. He also co-hosted a show called One in a Million and co-authored a book that came out of the show.

Phillip Schofield anchored the National Lottery Winning Lines on BBC One from June 2001 to October 2004 and co-anchored BBC quiz show Test the Nation from 2002 to 2006 alongside Anne Robinson. In 2006, he was replaced by Danny Wallace on Test the Nation after he signed a two-year exclusive contract with ITV worth £5 million. He began anchoring ITV daytime show This Morning in 2002 alongside Fern Britton who was replaced with Holly Willoughby in 2009. Phillip has anchored other ITV shows like The Cube, All Star Mr & Mrs, Have I Been Here Before?,  I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!,  It’s Now or Never, The Comedy Annual,  5 Gold Rings (which he still anchors), among others.

In 1991, he played Joseph in Joseph and the “Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” He reprised the character in 2018 in an episode of “Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.”
