On 5 November 1991, Pia Muehlenbeck was born in Reutlingen, Germany. However, she grew up in Queensland Australia, living an outdoor lifestyle alongside her sister, Tara.
For her education, she went to Aquinas College. While there, she was a member of the school’s debate team and was so good at public speaking that she won the public speaking competition of the school in 2006 and 2007.
She got the Bond University DUX Collegiate Scholarship, after which she began studying law at Bond University. After spending some time there, she moved to Sydney where she obtained a Bachelor of Law degree. While there, Pia Muehlenbeck also worked as a model and actress. At the time, she was in need of a creative outlet and so she set up a blog, SLINKII. She used the platform to share her fitness routine, recipes, and things she found interesting. However, the blog did not do well. One day, she got into researching on yoga mats and then she discovered that the materials used in making the mat, PVC, was harmful to the environment, thus the need to come up with something more eco-friendly since yogis are also eco-friendly.
Pia and Kane decided on having yoga mats manufactured from natural fibers. The duo spent all their savings on the venture. With only between 300 to 400 Instagram followers at the time, she snapped pictures of the mat and shared them on the platform. They started making sales almost immediately and her Instagram account also grew rapidly. It was at this point that Pia quit her job as a lawyer and Kane quit his, as a creative director.
Today, apart from the Instagram account that has amassed more than 2 million followers, the pair also have a YouTube channel, Kane and Pia which they started in 2014. The channel has grown close to 400,000 subscribers.
Her company with Kane, SLINKII is into the manufacturing of eco-friendly branded items such as yoga tights and mats, swimwear, and much more.
