Pooch Hall is an American model, rapper and actor who is mostly remembered for his role in The Game (2006-2015). He also portrayed the character of Daryll Donovan in the Showtime drama, Ray Donovan (2013).

Hall reached a major milestone in his career in Hollywood when he portrayed in the sports biography film, Chuck, which was about the 1975 world heavyweight title boxing bout.

Marion H. Hall, Jr., professionally known as Pooch Hall was born on February 8, 1977, in Brockton, Massachusetts. He graduated from Brockton High School in his home and later moved to study at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth where he got involved in the entertainment industry.

Hall got a chance at acting at the age of 21 and first started with the UMass Dartmouth Theatre Company. Meanwhile, he participated in sports while in school, playing football, running track and boxing – which led him to win the Southern New England Golden gloves in 1994.

Acting Career

Before landing roles in movies, Pooch Hall was into modelling and featuring in commercials. His first role in a film was in Lift (2001) followed by Blue Hill Avenue which came the same year.

With his handsome on and off screen features, he got more movies and television role offers including standing as a co-host for the reality series Girls v. Boys (2003); Miracle’s Boys (2005); Accidental Purpose (2009-2010) and Game (2006-2012).

Hall also featured in the music video, What You Do as Chrisette Michele’s love interest. While he didn’t continue in his role in the series The Game, Hall said he did not quit the show, but they could not reach a number during contraction negotiations.

According to him, the Showtime series took so long to respond to his agent, and when it got canceled, he was offered a new role in Ray Donovan which he went in to book the next day. His other projects include making a guest appearance in one episode of The Blueprint in the sixth season (August 2012).

Moreso, Hall starred alongside in two episodes of Suits in 2011 and 2013. In 2015, he was cast in the comedy-drama film, A Dog’s Purpose. So far, his career has spanned over 17 years and with that signature smile, Pooch Hall isn’t retiring anytime soon.

Controversy

On October 4, 2018, it was reported by TMZ that the Ray Donovan star was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) and felony child endangerment. It was alleged that Hall was carrying his youngest son, a two-year-old, whom he allowed to steer the wheel because he was too drunk to drive.

According to local media, a released police report stated that he was driving around 7:30 PM in Burbank when witnesses called 911 to report about the toddler on his lap and behind the wheel of the car that went off the road to crash into a parked car.

Fortunately, there were no injuries, but Hall was handcuffed and transported to jail to be released on $100,000 bail.

Hall’s height is measured at 6 feet, while his weight is around 84 kg (185lb). His weight is not always the same when you put eating and work out routines into consideration.

Parents, Brother

Pooch Hall is from an African ethnic background and raised by his parents, Marion and late Cindy Hall. He once spoke about how the name Pooch came about and said his father started calling him Poochy because it was the nickname a next neighbor gave him right from his mother’s womb.

Besides his role as the half-brother of the titular character played by Liev Schreiber on the Showtime series Ray Donovan, it isn’t clear whether Hall has a brother or sister.

Pooch Hall has been married to Linda since 1997. The duo met in their freshman year in college in 1996 and started dating. In their 21 and more years of marriage, the couple has four kids: daughter Djanai (born in 1997), daughter Djaeda (born in 2004), son Djordan (born in 2006) and the youngest Djulian (born in 2008).

The father of four is discreet about his private life and always tries to separate his work life from that of his family.
