Rachael May Taylor was born to Christine and Nigel Taylor on the 11th day of July 1984 as her parents’ only child. She was born and raised in Launceston, a city in the Island state of Tasmania, Australia. There, she attended Riverside High School. Taylor had ambitions of becoming an actress right from childhood, however, she first got into modeling as a teenager. She got signed to the Skye-Jilly International agency and she competed in the Miss Teen Tasmania and the Miss Universe/Miss World state finals.
Taylor enrolled to study History and Politics at the University of Sydney and while at it, she continued to pursue her modeling and acting career. In 2004, she marked her acting debut on the telefilm The Mystery of Natalie Wood after which she appeared in several other TV productions.
