Sage Steele is an American television anchor who is known primarily as the lead host of Sports Center On The Road. She also co-hosted the 2017 Miss America beauty pageant.

Sage was born on the 28th of November 1972, she is of African-American and Italian descent born into an American Army family living in the Panama Canal Zone. Sage moved around due to the fact that her family’s fate was tied to that of the army. The army moved the Steele family to different countries which included Greece and Belgium just to name a few.

In 1984 the family was moved back stateside to Colorado Springs which was Sage’s 7th-grade year. She spent just two years at her school in Colorado (Thomas B. Doherty High School) before she relocated to Carmel in Indiana where she completed her senior year at Carmel High School graduating in 1990.

After she was done with her high school at Carmel she moved to the Indiana University in Bloomington where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Communication in 1995.

She immediately got a job in television after she left college in 1995 as a sports reporter at the WSBT-TV, which was the CBS affiliate in South Bend, Indiana. She worked at the WSBT-TV for about two years as a news producer and reporter from 1995 to 1997. When Steele left the outlet in 1997, she moved to yet another affiliate of CBS called WISH-TV which was in Indianapolis, Indiana; she stayed here for just a year from 1997 to 1998.

Sage Steele worked at the station as a weekday reporter and a weekend morning sports anchor. She left the station in 1998 and moved to WFTS, an affiliate of ABC in Tampa, Florida. Sage worked for the channel as a sports reporter with a former colleague from WFTS, Jay Crawford from 1998 to 2001.

As fate would have it, she was to return to her Alma-Mata precisely 20 years to give a commencement speech at the University’s undergraduate commencement in 2015, an occasion that Sage recounted as a great honor.

Sage Steele had her big break when she was hired by Fox Sports in Florida as a reporter who covered teams which were around Central Florida such as Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Her career skyrocketed when she joined ESPN in 2007 and made her debut on the 16th of March that same year.

She revealed details of her new job in an interview with Awful Announcing where she opened up that she had previously turned down a job at the station as far back as 2004 due to the fact she was expecting her second child.

Sage was born in the Panama Canal Zone, her mother is Mona Steele while her fathers’ name is Gary Steele. Her father made history by being the first African-American to play varsity football at West Point in the mid-1960s. Steele is the youngest of her siblings as she has two brothers, Courtney and Chad. Chad works at the NFL’S Baltimore Ravens as the Vice President of Media Relations.

Sage Steele is married to Jonathan Bailey who was her former personal trainer in 1999 and the couple has three children. Their first daughter is Quinn Bailey, followed by their son Nicholas Bailey and their last daughter Evan Bailey.
