Sam Querrey who was born October 7, 1987, graduated from Thousand Oaks High School, California. With a little self-determination and persuasion from his father, Sam decided to turn pro after high school, turning down a scholarship from the University of Southern California.
Querrey became the first player in tennis history to record a victory in a challenger event in his debut season. That year he went on to play in the Indian Wells Masters, Countrywide Classics, and the 2006 US Open.
