Samaje Perine Background
Samaje Perine was born on September 16, 1995, in Jackson, Alabama. As he grew and came of age, the kid got enrolled at Hendrickson High School following his family’s relocation to Texas. At the school, Perine began playing football more and was also on the school’s track and field team. He was a running back starter throughout the three years he played for the team and rushed for 19, 393 yards, had 16 touchdowns as a junior while his senior year saw him drop to 1, 492 yards rushed with 12 touchdowns.
Coming into college, Samaje Perine played for the University of Oklahoma Sooners from 2014 through 2016 under the tutelage of coach Bob Stoops. As a true freshman, he rushed for 1, 713 yards on 263 carries and had 21 touchdowns. In his second season (2015), he posted 1, 349 rushing yards, 16 rushing touchdowns, 15 receptions with 107 receiving yards, and one receiving touchdown. His team began the 2016 season in a loss to Houston but they soon turned around things for their good from which Samaje recorded 1,060 rushing yards with 12 rushing touchdowns, 10 receptions, 106 receiving yards, and one receiving touchdown.
Samaje Perine decided to forgo his last year of college and instead enter the 2017 NFL Draft where he was picked by the Washington Redskins in the 4th round as the 114th overall and 9th running back to be selected in the draft. His first professional contract was worth $3.05 million and is to last for four years.
The once Jackson, Alabama kid teamed up with the likes Mack Brown, Robert Kelley, and Chris Thompson. He had his debut on September 17, 2017, against the Los Angeles Rams but recorded fewer runs in the match. He, however, finished his first rookie season with 603 rushing yards, one rushing touchdown, 22 receptions for 182 yards, and a receiving touchdown. As he plays out his contract with the team, Perine is expected to improve more.
Samaje Perine’s Brother and Family
Samaje Perine was born and raised by Gloria Perine his mother, the name of his father has not been disclosed. He holds the American nationality and is of African American ethnicity. After he was born in Jackson, Alabama, his family moved to Pflugerville, Texas where he began high school.
In his family, they have a thing or two for the name “Sam”. Gloria revealed that her grandfather was called Sam, just as his father also went by the same name which was further used by her brother and his son. She still wanted her son to be associated with the Sam name as it has family ties to it so she decided to go with Samaje.
Perine’s mother once revealed in an interview how docile Samaje was as a kid and still is till now. She recalls that there was never a time he was punished for doing something seriously bad, rather he would often take out time to be on his own; study football, gameplay patterns, and generally improve himself athletically. In like manner, Samaje Perine was also good with his academics having all A’s as his high school principal Devin Padavil once disclosed.
It has not been verified if Samje Perine has a brother from his mother or from elsewhere though people suspect he has one. When his identity is revealed, we will surely let you know. He also has no family of his own but was reported to have gotten his longtime girlfriend Meg Haney engaged in 2017.

Surprisingly, Samaje Perine is not as tall as you might have imagined. The Washington Redskins number 32 running back stands at 5 ft 11 in (1.80 m) with which he weighs 236 lb (107 kg).
His height notwithstanding, Samaje has been known to do incredible things with his great physical strength even as far back as his high school days. While in college he helped a student who didn’t have a jack to lift his car and change a flat tire. Incredible!
