Sami Khedira was born on April 4, 1987, in Stuttgart, Germany, the son of Doris and Lazhar Khedira. His father, Lazhar, is from Tunisia, while his mother, Doris, is of German origin.
As a child, Sami played a lot of football in Germany with his younger brother Rani Khedira. His journey into professional football began in 1992 when he joined the youth academy of his home club, TV Oeffingen. After three years with them, he transferred to the youth academy of VfB Stuttgart at the age of 8.
Khedira remained in the team until he made his senior national team debut in the VfB Stuttgart reserve team in 2004. He played a total of 21 matches in the second division for the team before attracting the attention of the senior officials. In the 2006-07 season, he advanced to the senior national team and made his debut in October 2006 against Hertha BSC. On 29 January 2007, at the age of 20, he signed his first professional contract with the club. In the same year, he became the Bundesliga champion for the first time in 15 years.
In 2010, Khedira signed with Spanish football giant Real Madrid for an undisclosed fee. He made his debut in the Franz Beckenbauer Cup against Bayern Munich and has played for his new club 40 times this season, winning the Copa del Rey. The following year, he won the Spanish La Liga title and finished with the Spanish Super Cup in 2012.
