Sami Khedira is a German professional football player who currently plays for Italian side Juventus. The Stuttgart-born player has been lauded for his dynamism, versatility, stamina, and energy which has allowed him to achieve great heights on the field.

Sami Khedira was born in Stuttgart, Germany, on the 4th of April, 1987, to Doris and Lazhar Khedira. His father, Lazhar, is from Tunisia while his mother, Doris, is of German origin.

As a kid, Sami played football a lot in Germany with his younger brother Rani Khedira. He started his journey to professional football in 1992 by joining his native club, TV Oeffingen’s youth academy. After three years with them, at the age of 8, he moved to VfB Stuttgart’s academy.

Khedira stayed with the side till he made his senior team debut for VfB Stuttgart’s reserve team in 2004. He played a total of 21 second-division matches for the side before he caught the attention of the team’s senior officials. In the 2006-07 season, he was promoted to the senior team, making his debut in October 2006 against Hertha BSC. On 29 January 2007, at the age of 20, he signed his first professional contract with the club, the same year, they became Bundesliga champions for the first time in 15 years.

In 2010, Khedira signed with Spanish giants Real Madrid for an undisclosed fee. He made his debut in the Franz-Beckenbauer-Cup against Bayern Munich and went on to make 40 appearances for his new club that season, winning the Copa del Rey. The following year, he won the Spanish La Liga title and followed it up with the 2012 Spanish Super Cup. He further won a UEFA Champions League title, a UEFA Super Cup, a FIFA Club World Cup and another Copa del Rey before choosing to join Juventus on a free transfer.

Sami Khedira signed a four-year contract with the Italian side in June 2015. He was, however, a month later, sidelined for up to two months, thanks to a hamstring injury he suffered in a pre-season friendly against Marseille. His official debut later came on the 4th of October 2015 against Bologna.

His first career hat-trick came on the 22nd of October 2017 in a 6–2 away win over Udinese. He has currently made over 100 appearances for The Old Lady, winning both the Serie A and the Coppa Italia on three occasions.

For Germany, Sami Khedira has made over 73 appearances and scored 7 goals. He made his debut on the 5th of September 2009 in a friendly match against South Africa. In 2010, he was called up to the side as a replacement for Michael Ballack who injured himself at the run-up to the event. He featured in all seven matches at the tournament, helping his nation to reach the semi-finals. He came third in the 2010 FIFA World Cup but won the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

In 2015, Sami Khedira was linked to the German model Stefanie Giesinger. The model was frequently spotted in Turin, watching her boyfriend play for Juventus until they broke up.
