Sarah Chalke was born on August 27, 1976, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She grew up in North Vancouver, British Columbia with her parents Angela and Douglas Chalk, and sisters – Natasha and Piper Chalke. Her mother, Angela, is of German ancestry, having come from Rockstock, Germany, and her father is a lawyer- but they both run a child adoption agency. Sarah’s family members are all vegetarians even though their father was forced to become one having faced pressure from other members of the family.

When it was time to attend high school, Sarah Chalke attended Handsworth Secondary School in North Vancouver and she graduated from the institution of learning in 1994.  She proceeded to enroll in a college after high school but dropped out to pursue a career in acting. Professional Career – Acting

Sarah Chalke started her career at the age of eight during an appearance in a musical theater production. She was a reporter for Kidzone, a children’s show in Canada when she was twelve before making her acting debut with the role of Angelica in the film City Boy which was released in 1992. After that, she auditioned for the character of Becky Conner in 1993 for the television series Roseanne which started running in 1988.

Chalke lost her grandmother and aunt to breast cancer because it wasn’t diagnosed in its early stage and this prompted her to embark on a campaign aimed towards the sensitization of women and creating awareness for early detection of breast cancer and prevention. It also motivated her to feature in the film Why I Wore Lipstick to my Mastectomy (2006), a film about breast cancer awareness.

She was an ambassador for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, a breast cancer organization in the US, in 2009. It is by far the largest and best-funded breast cancer nonprofit organization in the country. Sarah Chalke is also an Audrey Hepburn Ambassador, a foundation for children.
