The world was blessed with Sharon Vonne Stone on the 10th day of March 1958 through the family of Joseph William Stone II and his wife Dorothy Marie (née Lawson) who both had her while they lived in Meadville, Pennsylvania. The second child of the family, Stone was born to meet her older brother Michael who arrived a few years earlier in 1951. The family would grow to include more children; a sister named Kelly and a brother named Patrick.

Both her parents were working class with her father working as a tool-and-die manufacturer and her mother an accountant. Growing up, Sharon Stone was a very bright little young girl with a high IQ who excelled so much in her academics that many suggested that she considered becoming a lawyer. By the age of 5, she had already made it to the second grade.
