Known for his laid back aura and his love for marijuana, Snoop Dogg is definitely rap royalty. He was born, Cordozar Calvin Broadus, Jr, on October 20, 1971, to Beverly Broadus and Vernell Varnado. Vernell was an absentee father, that’s probably why the rapper was named after his step-father, who bore the same name. No doubt, Snoop Dogg’s sons and daughter have a better father for that reason, or do they?
From humble beginnings of being involved in gang activities, getting arrested and putting out mix tapes, Snoop has come a long way. Since 1992, when he was discovered by Dr Dre, the artist has learned the ropes and his unique laid back style has singled him out.
Through all this, he did not neglect to start a family, and who better to start it with than a high school sweet heart, right? Let’s see how that worked out for them.

The date was June 14, 1997, the place was the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Marina Del Rey, California and the occasion was Snoop Dogg’s wedding ceremony. Shante Broadus (nee Taylor), is Snoop’s ‘ride or die’, being with him before he amassed his $135 million fortune. Their love boat hit an iceberg 7 years later, when the artist filed for divorce citing ‘irreconcilable differences.’
Shante must have made a long lasting impression on him because, the artist, who momentarily got lost in his stardom, found his way back to her. Snoop surprised his unsuspecting wife on January 12, 2008. He planned a vow renewal ceremony on Charlie Wilson’s 20-acre ranch and in front of 200 guests, they said once again said ‘ I do.’
This year, on the 19th anniversary of their love, Snoop made the whole world go, ‘Awwwwww’, when he posted a lovely throwback picture of his spouse and him at their high school prom. He captioned it, ’19 years today, Happy anniversary been a1 from day 1. Thanks for my kids.’ The couple has three children together, Corde, Cordell and Cory.

The list would be incomplete if we did not add the name Julian Corrie Braudus. In 2007, it came out that he fathered a son with his former high school lover, Laurie Holmond. Snoop Dogg’s Sons; Corde Broadus
The eldest child and son of his parents, Corde Calvin Broadus, nick named ‘Spank’ by his father, was born in 1994. Corde was a phenomenal football player in high school, and that was made more evident when UCLA offered him a football scholarship. Long story short, he turned it down in a bid to pursue a music career like his famous dad. We hope that works out for him.
Corde got a lot of media attention, when he tweeted out a photo of his dad and him smoking weed together. It caused a social media frenzy and Snoop go a lot of back lash for his parenting skills and choices.
In response to them, he told Hollywood Reporter, ‘My kids can do whatever the hell they want, for me to say otherwise would be hypocritical. A lot of motherf*****s don’t have a relationship with their kids, and that’s when they get on drugs and have suicidal thoughts and drive drunk.’ Well, he sure told them!
More recently, in January 2015, our boy Spank, , made an addition to the Broadus clan. His partner, Jessica Kyzer and him welcomed their son, Zion, into the world. Needless to say, the whole family was thrilled.

He was born and in February 1997 and much like his brother he has ‘mad skills’ with a football. Also like his brother, after joining the UCLA Bruins, the freshman gave the sport up. This must have been embarrassing for his father who earlier made a big deal out of his Signing Day commitment to UCLA, when Cordell was just in high school.
When the UCLA Head Football Coach, Jim Mora reached out to him he said he wanted to pursue a film career and would rather concentrate on it. That momentary madness must have ended because, he put it out there that he was working out again and planned to re-join the UCLA Bruins at spring practice this year.

AKA Snoop Dogg’s secret son, Julian was born in 1998. He was a product of an extra marital affair that the star had with a former high school squeeze, Laurie Holmond. The star knew about the boy all along, but it made news just in 2007. Apparently, the artist has not been an ideal father to Julian, he was actually an absentee father. In relation to this Julian told Fameolous, ‘ I’m almost a grown man so my mind isn’t as heavy as it used to [be].’
He also added, ‘I’ve always knew music was what my life was really about, but I pushed it away trying not to be like my father,” he said. ‘But I got older and stopped pushing it away and I’ve never felt better or more passionate about something.’ So someone is definitely going to follow in his father’s footsteps.
Snoop Dogg’s Daughter
The baby of the house , fondly referred to as ‘Choc’ by her dad, was born just a year after her half-brother , in 1999. Cori Broadus is following suit, also drawing inspiration from her father, she started her music career as early as 2011 with one of her earliest singles being titled ‘Do My Thang.’ She is also featured on her father’s 2015 album ‘No Guns Allowed’, while he was still having his Snoop Lion phase.
In 2011, an unexpected tragedy struck the Broadus household. Cori was diagnosed with Lupus; a chronic, autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body. ‘Shante and I cried 1,000 times’, Snoop told People Magazine.
Cori is definitely a fighter and her parents have confirmed that she is winning the battle against the disease, that at some point claimed all her hair. The starlet is looking fine now and great things are expected from her.
